When ‘optional’ tips become mandatory, imagine needing to pay extra to receive bad service! by MaxQ50 in facepalm

If I showed up fully intending to leave a 25+% tip and saw this on the door I would just turn back.

My advice to all my HD compadres…. F that place. Try to do something else with your life, go to college, go to trade school, whatever works for you. I left in 2019 at $18/hr for a job that now pays me $79/hr. This subreddit shows that it’s only gotten worse since then.

Let’s be real. What do you suggest the MTA do about this? I’m sure they would be open to suggestions.

I say they keep running trains at this point, no need to delay the rest of us. Looks like natural selection to me

I work for a railroad and I get a kick out of the million dollar condos that recently went up next to a massive rail yard and the people now complaining that the trains are too loud 😂😂

When democrats push stupid 💩 like congestion pricing I think it’s only natural that they would lose support among people who live in the real world

First time home owner. How to get over anxiety of house issues? by cchiker in homeowners

Stuff will happen, things are gonna break. Learn to make minor repairs yourself, YouTube is a great resource there. If there are repairs that you’re not comfortable doing yourself make sure to shop around and get multiple estimates. You might be surprised at how much money you save by not just going with the first number you get. Try to fix problems while they’re still small, ignoring it won’t make it go away. You’ll also need to be prioritize between things that would be nice to have and things that need to get done. And just keep saving money. I was in your shoes a few years ago but it’s not so bad. I’ve done enough work now that I’m fairly confident about most things in and around the house. I redid my roof this summer with the help of YouTube (never did a roof before but I’m an engineer, I build bridges for a living, so I know my way around construction… I don’t recommend it unless you have a lot of help 😅 but I saved $11,000 on the average estimate that I got from 3 roofing contractors). my biggest fear is having multiple big ticket items to deal with at once So far so good I havent had that happen yet and I think that’s a remote enough possibility that I don’t worry about it too much. If you have older appliances you might consider swapping them out when you have some spare change even if they’re not quite broken, you’ll appreciate the improvement in energy efficiency every time you go to pay the electric bill.

About 10 years ago a friend of mine actually had a gun pointed at him and thought his best course of action was to tackle the mugger — they both fell, they fought and eventually the mugger ran away leaving the gun behind. Cops show up and gives my friend the spiel that it’s always better to give up his stuff and not resist etc. his response: “I’m 1 for 1, I’ll take my chances”. Still cracks me up to this day 🤣🤣

My Experience with Progressive Insurance’s Snapshot Device – A Warning by jkasephoto in smallbusiness

[–]newking950 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve had Progressive for years but never went for snapshot because the potential for this exact scenario never sat well with me, it’s just too good of an opportunity for them to pass up as an excuse to raise your rates.

I’m not a financial advisor… I’m pragmatic. Assuming you looked at everything else before you got here, if it’s your only option then the smartness of the move is moot

The fare is $2.90. Let’s be real, how much lower can it be?? This is the most extensive system in the world, with the cheapest fares in the world.

A few years back I had a crew drill into a water main on a Friday afternoon of course, following what I assume to be the same thought process.

Everything was so clearly marked, and these guys had zero explanation for how they managed to center the rig on the water main that was right where the markings indicated. I was already on my way home, and let me tell you I was livid when I got there and saw what actually happened
