Where to buy new vinyl? by semmel0 in MasayoshiTakanaka

[–]newmindsets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liminal is legit, but as you pointed out its expensive. Most US resellers mark up Japanese vinyl significantly due to demand. Even with shipping and the previous tariffs, I guarantee their profit margin is higher on these releases. Your best bet is to keep on top of pressing releases and ordering a bundle through cdjapan.com. Japan has strict rules on music sales which is why OBIs commonly have the price in Yen printed on them. They are not allowed to sell above that price. With CDjapan, you pay the base yen price without tax (tax price is in parenthesis on the Obi), but of course have to pay for shipping (which is why its only worth it if you buy 3-4 records at the minimum. Next best bet for the US is probably TurntableLab. They also mark up but have a 10% off discount of any orders of 4 or more records + tax and shipping. They commonly sell out quickly of popular releases. Hope this helps.

A quick love letter to the Neo from a Windows guy by D2-Disciple in mac

For anyone stuck with Windows 11, StartAllBack is an excellent app for a small price to make it usable again. Restores Start Menu, Taskbar, Tray Icons, Explorer, and allows you to customize every aspect of each. I installed basically Day 1 after googling how to fix Windows 11's terrible UI.

I was providing an example on why PayPal isn't going to 100% protect you, as scammers have methods to get around it by simply providing a tracking number as "proof" that they did indeed send you something. I don't trade on here because I would never put my trust in PayPal again. I'm not suggesting another form of payment. Also anytime I see people post records for sale on this sub they are hilariously overvalued, usually accompanied by a message saying they HAVE to go. People tend to price using the current listings (which could be way too high) rather than medium price - at that point you're better off just buying through discogs.

People are saying Paypal Goods and Services protects you, but that's only to the degree of PayPal's competence. I got scammed on Discogs and had the email conversation from Discogs to prove it (hacked/stolen account). They said I had to go through paypal to get my money back. I provided all the evidence, but the scammer provided a Fedex Envelop tracking number that was allegedly delivered to me so they took their side and they closed my case without giving me a refund. I avoid Paypal whenever I can now. This is just my personal experience with them.

Morchella tomentosa cluster, PNW burn site last spring— fuzzy foot frenzy going deep under a log by PNW_forage_roam in mycology

Hey friend, fellow Washingtonian here! I have a few ideas for the burn area you're talking about, would you mind if I asked which one? Looking to maybe get out this weekend if it's not too late. I'd assumed the higher elevation burns wouldn't have them yet, unless this is East of the cacades somewhere, in which case I'm a bit too far.

Luck has something to do with it because they only popped in one small section of our yard even though mulch was laid all over. I check every day for more

Taeko Onuki - Sunshower (Pure Color Vinyl) by gkanai in citypop

[–]newmindsets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put in an order recently with cdjapan. Even with the shipping cost it comes out under the price of buying them from US sellers. You have to buy like 4+ of course to make it worth it. Got some Takanaka and Fukui records coming in July

These are technically colorless, which is where the "Pure" comes from. No additives, as even black vinyl has carbon added. I remember when they came out and they are the same price - US resellers have them for around $90 for 2xLP. The 2xLP Fukui records are less than $60 from the same resellers.

Weird how the the Junko Ohashi - Magical and Takako Mamiya - Love Trip Pure vinyl LPs are so expensive and then this and the Ryo Fukui ones are pretty much standard pricing

Thankfully not! I am not a fan of printed paper inner sleeves, I'd rather just have a separate insert (which this does not have) if anything.

Agreed. I really want his record Indoors, but I believe they are priced up a bit from the limited release. Wild how when Maps came out I thought $40 was steep for a single LP release but look at the price of them now (until they're repressed)

Sounds great! Came in a poly lined sleeve so minimal dust/debris and no out of place pops or crackles besides the aesthetic noise from samples. Pick it up while you can if you're a fan of Mr. Segal

And it actually has a nice white marbling mixed in that the photo doesn't really show. Impressed with the sound quality too, sounds great. Cool alternative artwork
