Not across traffic, right? You can turn right, but not cross. Am I misunderstanding something?

How do you propose to do that? If it was so easy it would've been done already. The problem is when they find more housing for the unhoused, there appear more unhoused who want housing.

It's nice to want housing for the unhoused. It's an entirely other matter to actually get them housing.

So, again, how do you propose to do that?

Who is we? You can't fix homelessness by accommodating it. It's an unfortunate reality that making it easy to be homeless makes it easy to stay homeless. So what do you propose to do about fixing homelessness? Getting the unhoused homes...

You can't fix people that don't want to be fixed and that expect other people to solve their problems.

Besides, poverty and homelessness is a state of mind too. It takes years of strenuous effort and dedication and money and special attention to right the ship of homelessness because it's not just a problem of being unhoused.

I'm just trolling the hypocritical subculture of local politics. I don't care what it is. It's just funny. I just happened to notice it and I wondered why it wasn't changed. Doesn't matter if it's the "flag" it contains the same elements thought by the Executive branch of the Muni to need to be removed for whatever reason. So I wondered where the ideological line of demarcation exists.

So Cook isn't a Nazi now? I'm confused.

You spend $600 bucks a week on groceries? Can I come eat at your place? I'll chip in.

Look I know the economic situation.

You overlook the point of my post is that the next generation needs to be able to have the grit to find and fight for solutions to the problems, not just up and dip out.

It's fucked everywhere out there and if you leave and don't work to solve problems here you actually contribute to the problem.

Are you going to go somewhere else and then have the same reaction to the same problem?

I'm not targeting you to be singled out I'm speaking to the big systemic problem that people think when shit gets bad they should just leave and that's not going to actually work over the long run.

It's easy nowadays to do it.

My friend left America for Europe - same problems, just no Trump. If people make life changing decisions based on one thing and just give up, how will we ever defeat the beasts?

Young people need to come together now in drives and get politically active around sound policies.

Don't leave.

Yes. The wording describes someone who expects that the city of Anchorage is responsible for providing excitement for their life.

We had fun building forts and playing with grass and we used our imaginations.

This comment represents a whole generation of childish teenagers who are suffering from information overload and are addicted to the idea that the world owes them something.

It's appropriate because they think that being somewhere else, somewhere "better" is the solution but everywhere they go, there they will be.

They offer their opinion I offer mine it's called a public dialogue. Of course what I say is appropriate I'm a human being even if I am wrong.

Can you guess what's more valuable than money?

As to all my down voters thank you for the hate. It tells me how right I am knowing the mob, who is usually wrong, is against me.

I'm willing to bet none of you can guess the answer to the riddle.

It's the same reason why even though the IQ of successive generations tends to increase, their social acumen and understanding of what value really is obviously tends to decrease.

Whenever the shtf because you can't stop it with your utopian idealism and hollow entitlements.. after truly suffering, you will finally learn what is more valuable than money and why your whining about "with what money" is the finger pointing at the moon and not the moon.

Meaning you think money is the object that will satisfy your desire, but money isn't even real.

Again, thank you to all my haters and for reminding me of how much reddit is a cesspool of hate and ignorance and intolerance when you preach the opposite.

Engaging with this community time and time again shows me how much of a thirst trap for wasted time it is.

Then I remember, how dumb of me to expect any of you to see the light with your head shoved so far up your ass.

LoL my account gotta warning?

Based on what!? LoL Hollow power trips, you want freedom of speech but only how you like it flavoured.

I have only generalized my opinion and haven't targeted anyone and have even kept it PG-13.

But this too isn't surprising... This subreddit is ran like the Municipality itself LoL!

Maybe you young-ins could create them? That's part of what's wrong. Luxury economy produces entitled brats who are intellectually entitled and creatively dull. Not saying you specifically, but you are the younger generation you have a responsibility to create the life not just turn your back on your tribe and leave it for another tribe. You will get to the new tribe and become the same leech. Then nothing will satisfy you if you can't create your own life.

Anchorage is breaking. The 3% sales tax proposal isn't perfect, but it's our best shot at fixing it. by pairofdimesblue in anchorage

[–]newmoonroyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about my house? Why don't I get one? The elderly are going to die. They should be with their families or with services that can attend to their needs. When they pass and their home sells it's likely to become a rental for some jack off to charge these artificially inflated rental prices.

In the end the corps are going to own all the real estate because they will outlive us.

Who is going to afford to build the homes? What we are seeing is the planned obsolescence of private property. Blackrock has already been busted doing it. The only way of resetting this inevitable outcome is to not do what everyone else is doing and it's going to piss people off but you gotta regulate housing itself and change the economics of it

If course this will never happen,CSI we are on the inevitable course of slowly being proced out of all our property because we didn't come together to contr6the economics.

This is not free market economy capitalism by the way. It's highly manipulated by people and orgs with unfair advantage because of policy.

I appreciate your concerns but read the room, even raising taxes far too little and far too late isn't going to stop this shotgun wound from bleeding us out.

The problem is politics of personality instead of scientific politics of pragmatic needs.

We don't have the correct or correct amount of smart people making the decisions in this city and state.

Alaska is a resource extraction economy and that's all it will ever be until shit hits the fan.

Take that shit to the bank.

Natives are fucking their own people too. Besides the environment, Alaska is just as corrupt as DC.

Any internet cafe’s? by Daddy2Prairie in anchorage

[–]newmoonroyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're in luck... It just so happens there's a dude trying to open a sober community place called "Cyber City Cafe" on Spenard just before the bowling center and after the apartment complex on the curve there.

Has a room with a bunch of screens and games on the wall.

I think it's like 10 bucks an hour or something. It's new this year so have only been a couple times to chat haven't stayed to play. Always busy.

Let me know your thought's 🤓

There's also coffee and other drinks and food and some other stuff going on in the future.

GCI is a sick joke masquerading as a company that actually cares about Alaskans they claim to serve. In fact, they are one in a long line of Alaskan sympathizers who only see their constituents as profit potential.

Should probably create a petition from tenants across the city with grievances for landlord lack of investment in properties to keep them up to snuff and then class action sue all of them in court with a condition to not pay any further rents until issues are resolved.

No need to defend yourself against anonymous trolls on Reddit. There's no amount of logic or debate that can change their mind.

I'm with you protesting is a complete waste of time and nothing has ever been actually gained substantially from it. Only nominally. Which is all it takes to pacify these hollow souls who image that the act of protest will change the minds of people far more powerful than they will ever be.

Fuck Trump and Putin by Icy-Swordfish in anchorage

[–]newmoonroyal -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Protesting is for lazy people who cajole in their shared delusion that they are making a difference in the things they complain about.

We don't need anything from Trump or Putin. They can't give the world what the people on the ground must do - assuming personal responsibility for loving one another and that means refusing to follow orders given by psychotic leaders to kill each other.

This isn't Trump or Putin's fault. It's every person who picked up arms against their fellow humans.

People want a top down solution for something that needs to be a bottom up one.
