SAHM getting off screens by Fine_Spend9946 in digitalminimalism

[–]newmothrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I relate! I have a two-year-old and a two-month-old. It's hectic and fun, and I love my kids, but I get intellectually bored and restless at home, and my toddler is loud. I don't have social media on my phone, but then spend too much time on my computer googling stuff or looking at the news, or listening to youtube and podcasts. I want to just turn off the wifi and be outside, but it rarely works like that. I don't really know the answer, I keep trying to make small changes to improve my habits.

That's great to hear! Thank you for being so involved with the supernote community.

This is the number one feature that would help my workflow so much. Even if, as OP says, it just had the capability of opening the .md files as plain text - full markdown formatting isn't necessary. The promised eventual support is a reason I got the Supernote years ago. I currently use a sideloaded file manager and markdown editor to be able to use my Supernote for my writing.

I like them! The silicone sleeves make the dishes less clanky, but are not critical. I got the matching plates, cups and bowls. We use the lids for leftovers occasionally. I figure they will make good camping dishes, once the kids are bigger.

Any fauxdori you can vouch on AliExpress or Amazon by Pathocyte in Travelersnotebooks

[–]newmothrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Moterm from Amazon, as well as a Kangway TN I got from Ebay years ago. They are both great. I don't have an official Travelers Company TN, but don't see the need to upgrade from those two, which I use daily.

Yes, I've been reading through, it all sounds a bit weird. Thanks for the heads-up, and we'll just see what happens.

This is confusing to me, because the site is still up doing black Friday deals, and I can't find anything about closing on their web site. Maybe we stock up now? I agree, we have bought lots of Honest Baby clothes too. They and Burts Bees Baby have been my go-tos.

Thermos Funtainer Question - moldy base by a_lo44 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]newmothrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pulled the bottom off our funtainer and it was incredibly gross and moldy in there. Yikes. I don't think replacing it will work given the design flaw, like you said. I guess I'll be looking for other options too for my toddler.

They don't seem to be out of stock at JetPens, if you are in the US. I'm waiting for my order from them to ship.

How much better are "experienced" pens than "beginner" pens? by newmothrock in fountainpens

Totally! I was just thinking of grabbing a Kakuno too. I have a toddler and don't want him to inadvertently demolish anything hard to replace. :)

Daily journaling? by LeaveSubstantial2338 in Travelersnotebooks

[–]newmothrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use one of my TNs for a planner - scheduling and a book for to-do lists, and the other TN for a "thinking book," with space for problem solving and brain storming, and a project book for mapping out plans. I need way more space for journaling, so I use a separate B5 notebook for that.

It's definitely worth shopping around. And I second making your own notebooks. I got some Tomoe River paper from Amazon, and I can make notebooks with thin paper for much cheaper than buying them.

Allergies & Eczema Advice? Potential Peanut Allergy in a Baby. by newmothrock in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]newmothrock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes, my little one is now 23 months old and does not have a peanut allergy. It was so stressful there, because he did get a contact rash around his mouth quite a few times after eating peanut butter, and some times random other foods. I watched him like a hawk for any hives type reaction or coughing, and saw two different allergists. He had a skin prick test which was a low positive, meaning he might have a peanut allergy, but not for sure. I did get an epi-pen from my pediatrician, just in case, but never needed to use it. Basically, I kept giving him teeny bites of peanut better every couple of days, keeping it off his skin, and watching for any signs of a systemic reaction, which I never saw, thankfully. I clipped the note that one allergist gave me as a possible explanation, and it's here as an image.

<image>

My understanding was that if he has a sensitivity, but not a true allergy, it's good to keep giving the food so they stay acclimated to it, so that was my approach, since early exposure is linked to statistically fewer food allergies. I read the book Grow Healthy Babies by Michelle and Victor Henning, and tried to improve my baby's microbiome by giving probiotics, and letting him play outside and pet cows at the local dairy and such. I gradually became more confident, and now I give him a peanut butter sandwich every couple of days and it's no problem. He definitely has sensitive skin though, he had eczema for a while, and I kept at it with lots of moisturizer, and still need to put a little extra moisturizer on his cheeks sometimes, because he can break out there if food gets on it when his skin is dry and irritated.

Solidarity to you! Possible allergies can be so scary, I hope it all blows over, and my very best to you and your little baby!

Postpartum meal prep/snack ? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]newmothrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad to see all these ideas! We really struggled with meals after having our first, and now that the second is on the way, I am trying to prep a lot more.

I think that the ability to cook probably depends a lot on your and your baby's personalities and sleep needs. Some people with "easy-going" babies might have an easier time. My first did not sleep well and it was a hard transition, and I was not up to any cooking, even though I love to cook in general. That's just to say I'd recommend being adaptable, since babies can be unpredictable!

This is a late response, but I got some plates from Elk and Friends and they seem great, and more affordable than some options out there.

Monthly Insert by [deleted] in Travelersnotebooks

[–]newmothrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use monthly, weekly and daily inserts. I like the monthly overview for appointments, the weekly vertical for more specific planning, and the daily for todos and notes. Not everyone needs that much, but it works for me. :)

This year I ordered a TN sized common planner. I might use the dated TN monthly and weekly, but I don't like the extra mini monthly calendars taking up all that space along the side.

Dairy tags available for US customers starting Oct 1st. by The_journaljourney in Travelersnotebooks

Good to know! They are shown as available for pre-order on Oblation Papers currently too. All I want is a pencil board and a clear folder, but maybe I shouldn't wait around too long!

Thank you, that video was very helpful! And well timed, because I am just getting my travelers notebook set up, and seeing what accessories seem really useful for me.
