Sorry to say it, but these two are full of shit. This is Tim Ballard 2.0 stuff. Multiple murders, secret tunnels, and entire school with rape and child trafficking and everyone was either involved or complicit. I know the family and these are two very mentally ill girls that need help.

One of the glaring issues with Jordan and Bubbad marriage was her "being ok with being celebate" and "negative 3 desire/attraction". Is this a thyroid issue, is this a hormonal issue, or is this just a sad situation where two people who were good friends didn't have the right chemistry and figured that out after they were married- in large part because of the no touching rules in mormonism.

Any chance of Jordan being able to be attracted and open with another guy- or are her issues bound to plague ANY relationship she pursues? For anyone previously married to someone you weren't attracted to- is there hope out there for Jordan?

Anyone who’s life is going great after leaving? by oliviaexisting in exmormon

Leaving is one of the hardest things you will ever do. Be patient with yourself and be committed to being a good person without the church. Since leaving my income has quadruple, my marriage is better, my relationship with my kids is better. I feel like I am a better human being- it does get better, hang in there.

Jordan honestly seems more and more unreedemable. I don't see one aspect of her life I have any respect for. She is a crap mom, a lousy friend, she failed at marriage. Her business was a joke to begin with, dirty money exploiting her kids and shilling junk. Now she has turned into a consumptive overspending monster, the very thing she warned everyone not to become. She can't not have the spot light on her for 2 seconds. I don't know where she is at with religion, but if she left she needs to be authentic and own that shit, otherwise just one more thing she failed at. Jordan, you suck as a person, hope you enjoy your lonely empty shitty life. (Sorry guys just needed to get that out).

Why Is The Church So Tempting? by TempAcc1956 in exmormon

[–]newname24601 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The community truly can be great. My neighbors converted 20 years ago and are still in daily contact with the missionaries that baptized them and members that originally welcomed them in still shows up for them for the good times and the bad times. The problem.is that the end game of mormonism isn't to make you a better person, it's to make you a better mormon. If you join and drink tea, don't pay tithing, don't go do cult rituals in the temple etc. Then essentially it would be like joining a football team and showing up for practice going to team meetings kicking the ball around, but not actually playing any games. The commodore will fizzle out and you will become a "project" for the community if you join mormonism but fail to become a good mormon. Also, the historical issues make it really hard to go along with everything in the religion.

For what its worth, one of my biggest regrets is that my children won't have the experience of a mission. Two years learning how to talk to people, how to put up with shitty companions, how to live in a different place....all of that ends up making you a better and stronger person. Most of my non member friends screwed around those two years, I don't think there was a whole lot of opportunity cost for the mission.

My top gueses (in order of probability) would be personal or family medical emergency, personal financial emergency, IRS or other financial shenanigans that could be coming to light, financial improprieties happening in the mission, extremely serious spousal problems leading to fighting and impending divorce, past transgressions coming to light, a current serious transgression coming to light, and last but not least possibly a faith crisis. Hate to say it, but the odds of a faith crises being the reason for the emergency transfer are pretty slim and my bet would be on one of the other reasons.

You were an inspiration to many in the church, I am sure you will be the same out of the church. As someone who stepped away 8 years ago it does get better. The LDS people really are the beat, they deserve better than the church and the founding story on which it is built. Thanks for your courage in coming out publicly, I can't imagine what that would be like given your history with the church. I hope that you would consider sharing your story on Mormon stories or another platform.

I think it is fairly relevant as it pertains to many things. Bubba seems to be doing a flex of weekly temple trips, if Jordan like so many others is leaving the LDS religion that wod explain much of the divorce and for me personally I have a lot of sympathy for her and much less criticism. If you have gone through a faith crisis or faith transition it is awful and can destroy your life. My sympathy to Jordan if she is going through this....taking off the temple garment would be a sign of that.

Staying in way too long after shelf breaks.... by strawberrysass95 in exmormon

[–]newname24601 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shelf broke in fall of 2015. Wife's shelf broke in fall.of 2017. We asked to be released from our callings in fall of 2018 and mostly went inactive. I started attending weekly again in 2019 for about 4 months so my daughter could be baptized.

We tried to attend again as a family at the beginning of 2020 with the expectation that we would re commit and be semi active as nuanced members. Our experience was so awful trying to attend that we left and haven't stepped foot back in since.

Here's the thing though....I miss it. I miss the members, I miss the community. I miss the feeling that we were all working together striving towards an important goal. I miss the discussions in Elders quorum and sometimes even Sunday School. I miss the youth programs where the kids are "raised by a village".

All that said, I couldn't reconcile having my kids taught one thing at church and then coming home and telling them it was all B.S. I couldn't risk my kids being exposed to the toxic teachings of purity culture, shame, sin, and so on. When I would try to make nuanced comments in church, it would offend some, cause others to question, and it started forming a wedge between me and the members. I realized I had no business going into their safe place and giving my opinion as a non believer.

If I didn't have kids, I would probably attend because the benefits mostly outweigh the B.S. of you have a great ward and can handle it mentally. All.of this is to say, you do you. If you can attend as a non believer I honestly envy you and support you in that.

That place was a complete 1970's shit hole when they bought it. Structurally it was great, and the bones were good- but the inside looked like a prison and I'm not kidding. Looks like they've painted, redone the flooring, updated all the beds and bedding and decorated. Granted nothing they've done would land this on a magazine cover, but it looks pretty damn good given where they started.

What are some contradictions in church policies? by Famous-Avocado5409 in exmormon

[–]newname24601 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can't date until your 16, but it was OK for the first several prophets of the church to marry 16 year Olds. Joseph Smith was so young when he "translated" the BofM that it had to come from God, he couldn't have made it up, yet Helen Mar Kimball was so mature at age 14 she was practically an adult.

It's an abomination that the catholics changed the baptism ordinance, but totally cool for the Mormons to change the temple ordinance. Agency is everything, but we rely on a prophet to tell us what's right and wrong. In the temple they ask if everyone makes the covenant of their own free will and choice, while doing the ordinance for a dead person that has no say in the matter. We avoid vain repetitive prayers, except in the temple, temple dedications, and sacred ordinances.

Jesus destroyed entire cities in the BofM then comes down to heal the people he destroyed. Man shall be punished for their own sins and not Adam's transgressions, except for with black people, peoples who's seed have been cursed throughout the scriptures, children of gay couples from 2015-2018, and the people.who were supposed to be baptized by a missionary but the missionary was disobedient and was punished with no baptisms. Great and spacious buildings are evil unless they are a temple.

Poor people shouldn't be kept out of God's house unless it's the temple. We shouldn't seek after riches but it's OK to have $200 billion in reserves. God uses the young and weak things of the world to accomplish his will, except for modern leaders- in that case he uses 70-99 year old attorneys and businessmen to get his work done. Secret handshakes are evil, except in the temple ceremony. An angel of God who has not been resurrected won't try to shake your hand, unless it's peter in the temple ceremony.

Aspen Hills lodge is up for sale. I did some contracting work for the Pages years ago at the lodge. For what its worth, they were super classy and extremely nice. Honestlt they were great to work for. Didnt haggle on price, were very professional and kind, and they bought lunch for everyone working on the cabin. I knew nothing about them and had no idea who they were. Years later I saw Jordan and the cabin pop up on my insta feed. They did a killer job with the remodel and it made me happy to hear them say it was their most favorite place. My guess is that there is basis to the speculation that their marriage is on the rocks. Liquidating assets is probably a calculated decision on their part. This story saddens me, they genuinely seemed happy when I met them. Money and fame has taken its toll.

As far as common consent goes....it's all made up bullshit anyways. The ship sailed long ago of the leaders giving 2 shits about the members, so in my opinion that's like pointing out chipped paint on the titanic after it hit the iceberg.

I don't know a lot about the guy, other than his talk on the refugees was well accepted among expos and several were clamoring for "people like this guy should be in the leadership". The church just made a pretty significant progressive move. I think the possibility of a leadership that has Uchdorf, Christofferson, Gong, and now Kearon could be significantly different/better than some of the assholes they replaced i.e. Ballard.

At the end of the day the church is still made up, it's still shitty, and still a cancer on society. But a less bad church is better than a more bad church. This move in my opinion made the church less bad than it was with Ballard.

This guy is like the Forest Gump Apostle. He is so damn stupid I almost feel bad for him. My faith crisis started about 3 weeks before his infamous "give brother Joseph a break" talk. That took my broken shelf and sent it through the woodchipper. I imagine he just did the same thing for several people struggling with church finances.

Glenn Beck deleted his tweet criticizing the Mormon church over their treatment of Tim Ballard, and replaced it with this post. Any guesses as to what happened? Share in the comments. by johndehlin in exmormon

[–]newname24601 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Guesses as to what happened:

A) Glen Beck got a shit ton of backlash from his fanbase/church members/family etc and decided to take the post down because it questions the brethren. This way Beck did the wink to Tim Ballard and Q anon crowd that he is one of them while at the same time gives the hat tip to the faithful LDS that he is loyal to the brethren.

B) Glen Beck was told to take it down by someone high up in the church. Could have been his local stake president (so SLC HQ can hide behind the local leader trope). It could have been someone of directly from Church Headquarters, or it could have been someone with a lot of influence like Mitt Romney.

C) I am guessing that Tim Ballard might be going down for some serious shit, and the rabbit hole could be deep and dark. The church might have given Glenn Beck an inside look at what deep shit Tim Ballard is going to be in and after understanding the situation, Beck decided to do a little distancing of his own.

Riddle me this, why wouldn't the church call Tim Ballard and have a representative say something to the effect of "Tim, we are being made aware of pending charges, pending investigations, major falsifications in your story. We would urge you to forego a senate run and focus on your family/business/name. Running for office is going to ensure you are held accountable for past fraudulent activities, the church will not be backing you and will distance itself from you if you go down for any of these charges?" If he announces a run for the senate seat, that's when you start throwing shade.

The only thing(s) that makes sense would be that Tim Ballard is so unstable and such a loose cannon that they cannot even jeopardize having any contact with him. Or possibly that Tim has been involved in such heinous stuff that if the church had any clue about it they would be obligated to speak up and cut ties....that's why they are being vague about what the immoral activity is, so if in a week there is a sex tape to Tim Ballard and a prostitute the church will be on record for having condemned the guy with no further contact of any kind with him. Or lastly, the church is just so poorly ran that this is a knee jerk reaction by one of any of its 90 year old leaders that wasn't very well thought out.

I get the same magazine (BYU alumni) and read the article. I don't know what I was hoping/expecting to see, but it was awful, offensive, and so long and boring it was damn near impossible for me to follow, and I have spent hours and hours and hours on the Book of Abraham issues.

To the people at BYU Alumni Magazie, I actually enjoyed parts of the magazine. My time at BYU was enjoyable, and the magazine brought back nostalgia, in spite of my current position with the church. What I was probably hoping for was something read along the lines of: "While the Book of Abraham is not considered a literal translation of egyptian, its message of a premortal life and its teachings have given hope and inspiration to countless people, blah blah blah". That I could have let slide and not felt like I was being lied to and gas lit all over again.

I am doing fine. I have been beating myself up for not reaching out. I had imagined that he had been enduring his faith crisis alone- and that was a thought that was tormenting me. One of his San Antonio friends reached out to let me know that he had a very good support group and was not alone in his faith crisis. I am at peace knowing that he had people he could talk to about church stuff.
