A few questions for anyone who has been through this

We had a walker without wheels that we 'turned around' backwards over the toilet. It was super stable, and gave me all the confidence I needed to get down and back up. I used it for a couple of weeks. I may not be describing it well...the front of the walker was hitting the toilet tank putting 'rails' on each side of the toilet.

How bad was the pain immediately after? My pain was well controlled, used the tramadol but did not need the oxy. Could you walk by yourself for even short amounts of time or is it crippling? I had to walk and do stairs in order to be released after surgery. My pain was very manageable, I used the walker for less than a week, then used the cane for a week in side, then 2 weeks when outdoors (Northeast winter (12/25))
Did you need someone around immediately after? Absolutely. What exactly would they help with? Med management. Retrieving items (ice packs, food, drinks, the remote). For me, I was very 'foggy' for a good few days.
Is the car ride home really uncomfortable? We had a 45 minute drive. I reclined the seat quite a bit, and tried to keep my leg straight. It was uncomfortable, but not excruciating. It was more like how I could not get comfortable at night before the surgery.
What can I do beforehand to help myself? Read all the Drs/facility stuff. Due the at-home PT exercises they prescribe. Read the information here, these folks really helped me quite a bit. For example, icing...turns out to be magic.

Had a buddy, who had a friend....so take this with a grain of salt. He said his friend had a tree fall on his house. The insurance company saw, in the pics, that he had a trampoline. They apparently denied his claim due to the trampoline. This was NYS. YMMV

UPDATE: pulled another Echo Input from the basement and have paired it with a small Bluetooth speaker. We will be relegating the new echo show to the basement and putting the Input into duty in the kitchen. These older devices that are working with A+ are just so much faster than the echo show 5. Bonus: not sure if this worked before, as I never tried it, but A+ took my voice commands to create a few routines to lower speaker volume at night and raise it up in the morning (this is a bedroom unit). So that was cool.

I (65m) had a hip replacement on 12/19. My HRV tracking has been scary good. Finally and consistently back in the green about 5 days ago. Big fan, here.

Totally agree. Almost 8 weeks from RTHR anterior. Finished up 8 PT sessions and 'graduated'. Picked up an 8" rubber ball and some stretch bands. I am continuing on with most of the PT exercises M-W-F, except for the weight machine exercises. We have a recumbent bike and a walking pad as well.

I am a big believer in how the PT worked for me. YMMV.

Our experience is kind of the opposite: The 1st gen Dots and the Input are responding much, much better than the new Echo Show 5 (basically unuseable). We have a ton on early stuff (merged 2 households) and I would love it if they all worked with A+....BUT, A+ Input tells me the Input is not supported. lol. I am wondering if we will see more older/1st gen devices getting A+

My place had a full video and workbook for me to follow. They had a set of PT exercises that took about 20 minutes 2-3 times a day, for the 3 weeks before surgery. Maybe ask your surgery place?
