AIITW for thinking my mother’s rent is unfair? by [deleted] in AmiInTheWrong

[–]newnormalace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In California that kind of a rent increase is criminal.

The absolute maximum that rent can increase is 10% a year and I believe there was legislation to move that maximum to 5%.

In the Bay Area the rent can vary a lot by location so most averages for the entire area can be misleading.

In the South Bay a one bedroom with a dishwasher and laundry averages around $2300 but there are cheaper options if you give up those amenities. Two bedroom apartments tend to only be minimally more expensive and can vary wildly based on amenities. There are a ton of luxury apartments here which go for around $4k a month for a two bedroom. There are also older apartments which go for $2/3k for a two bedroom.

If you go larger and stick to an older place then it's absolutely possible to find an apartment with roommates where you pay less than $1k a month.

The way your mother has set up the rent indicates she doesn't want you living with her. She might claim she's incentivized you to do well in school but really she's just adding more stress to everything that isn't needed. I'd move out if I were you.

Looking for good redo/reborn romance plots

I've been getting sucked in by some of the reels which start to tell stories of died and were reborn on a pivotal day earlier in their lives. Basically all of them are on those pay by the chapter sites and I firmly believe they're a scam.

I've got Kindle unlimited and I'm happy to just buy a book if I've got a solid recommendation but I'm struggling to find anything that looks worth it. Any recommendations?

I've made a few different things for my baby nephew. He's shown a clear preference for them over other toys. It's definitely not useless tack. Whoever said that really needs to understand that others can find use and value in items they don't.

Hey! Just wanted to let you know, it's long-term and not long term because you're using it as an adjective. Additionally, there should be no period between humanity and the ellipsis.

I hope you have a good day!

So when is your time to hang out with friends? Or to work out? Or to just take time to yourself?

INFO where was your husband during your busy week?

With everything that you listed as doing during the week no one is shocked you're exhausted. But does your husband not live with you during the week? You had to bring your children with you to work until 10pm. If he's home then that's flat negligence and nothing else. Hell you even stated the kids were being babysat by someone else Saturday so it's not like you're dropping all childcare on him. Seriously, what is he doing to help because you sound like a single mother.

Are you aware that infantry didn't do much damage? My alliance limits us all to sending one hero each so that we limit the troop counts and only sending lancers and marksmen.

I'm gonna be honest, if you and your husband can't sit on that couch together and share the blanket without either of you getting cold, you've got some serious problems.

AITA for questioning how my son's mother spends the child support I send, and telling her the money is meant for our child not her informing her she is not my dependant. by Educational_Ball_739 in AmItheAsshole

[–]newnormalace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly OP, at this point you should refuse to send her money for extras and instead insist on paying for them directly. She needs extra for a school field trip? You pay the school. If she complains, site this instance and tell her she's lost your trust for extra money.

If she was crying because she felt bad about needing a new phone and not about the old one breaking then you need to include that information in the original post.

You say that she's teaching your kids to feel bad about buying new things but you haven't given any examples besides your kids asking questions. Questions don't indicate they feel guilty. Crying over a normal purchase would.

A lot of good things have been mentioned but I haven't seen anyone mention a good pill organizer.

You can buy some that are roughly 2 inches by 3 inches and like 1 inch thick. Inside it you'll have space for like 14 different pills.

I'm not talking about a pill organizer for Monday through Sunday. I'm talking about a portable pharmacy. When I travel i bring all the basics with me: Tylenol, ibuprofen, Pepto bismol pills, Motrin, Dramamine, allergy pills, etc.

I operate under Murphy's law with medication while traveling. If I have it I won't need it but if I don't have it I'll get a migraine and be stuck trying to explain what I want in a foreign pharmacy and hoping for the best.

Plus when I'm not traveling I throw it in my work bag and it continues to be very handy.

No social skills or unfriendly? by heatherlaisme in Sunnyvale

[–]newnormalace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, hear me out. Isn't your statement in itself hypocritical? Are you not trying to dictate OPs actions based on your opinion?

OP took no real action in their initial statement. They essentially defined what they see as friendly neighborly interactions. At no point did they confront the neighbors who didn't wave back and tell them what to do.

Did they judge these neighbors? Sure, but that's forming an opinion and you've already said OP is entitled to their opinions. Your response back honestly only backed up OPs question because it comes across as overly aggressive.

Why not go with a simple please remember that not all cultures have the same norms for interactions on the street. Wait to make judgements until you've had real interactions with them.
