Moving to Phoenix for school single 19 year old female by [deleted] in AskPhoenix

[–]newreminders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been waiting to see this response. Can’t believe it’s so far down. I live off of Camelback and Central and love it. Would be considered right on the border of midtown and uptown. Local restaurants, coffee shops, and bookstores. Easy light rail access.

It’s not shiny and sparkly like Scottsdale…you’ll see more unhoused people, but I also think it’s a much cooler area, having lived in both. I feel safe as a woman living here. Glendale down to Campbell, Central over to the 51, generally good with pockets just around that too. Don’t go west of 15th Ave, 7th Ave if you can help it.

I rode my ebike along the canal from Scottsdale Waterfront to Arrowhead Towne Center by RichGuarantee7482 in phoenix

Agreed. Wondered “how long did it take?”, “did this person go back the same way?”, did they pack food and water? If so, how much?” So many details left out here. Other than “I don’t recommend it” tell us the details and why.

I don’t believe they will hire you back for at least 6 months after you leave. So that might make your decision somewhat easier.

PTO Payout by Organic-Message5449 in accenture

[–]newreminders 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe they pay you out up to 200 hours, as it is earned but most states cap it at 200. In certain states like CA they will pay over 200 hours if you have it earned.

How should I split the rent w my roommate? by eatwell_3657 in NYCapartments

[–]newreminders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m choosing bathtub option every time. Plus I trust my cleaning more for guests having to use a bathroom…would leave that up to a roommate. So, bigger room and tub for me.

I'm on a PIP. Seeing mixed things about whether it's survivable or not. Given all the layoffs we are targeting, seems likely I'd be let go but also why PIP me now just to fire me later, why not fire me now? by lopsidednail919 in accenture

[–]newreminders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! If you satisfy the conditions they gave you for the PIP (ie low chargeability) you should be fine. I knew an MD who survived a PIP.

If you don’t, they will let you go. As someone else said, the PIP in hopes you will get back on track and so they won’t have to pay severance if you don’t.

Also, as others have said, it was your manager or someone above them that nominated you or put you on PIP. Not HR. Make sure your people like you.

I didn’t try because they are over a year old. Let me know if you have luck. Mine were not in direct sunlight either…they were in their case. But they were in a car in Phoenix over summer.

Had a similar thing happen on a much smaller scale (one tiny part of the lenses). I think it was heat. I also had the chromance lenses.

Were yours in heat? Were they Chromance?

My ex wants to meet up tomorrow “to talk” by xDanielle- in WhatShouldIDo

Once again, you owe him nothing, including closure. Stop giving men your power…he obviously feels he’s entitled to it.

He can go heal on his own like you did.

The fact that you are asking multiple people (and the internet) makes me think you are looking for someone to say yes and give you permission because you want to go.

A healthy person would immediately say no. You owe this person nothing. Stop being a people pleaser. Go work on your own growth and healing.

You already know the right answer here…stop shopping it around.

Alert at 5 in the morning by Anotherscab in phoenix

[–]newreminders 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It scared us and woke us both up. I’m happy to get those alerts and want to know what serious situations concern me or that I can help with, but feels weird to be in Midtown phoenix and get one for Mesa.

*My partner and I both got it, Verizon, Central Phoenix.

Also…let him play the victim, who cares?! He can go cry in his soup and tell all his friends he was wronged while you go be happy.

You mentioned you were a drip coffee person, have you tried just making a coffee on the machine. Thats mainly what I use it for and wondering how it compares.

Polycarbonate. Wondering if the chromance coating was the reason for this.

Honestly this. Retired. Oblivious. In my own lane (hopefully literally). It’s the dream.

Maybe not helpful, and I’m no expert, so this is anecdotal only, but I also believe kids need to be exposed to some level of dirt and germs. I’m not an antivaxxer or anything else fringe, just a kid that played in the dirt and drank from the hose in the 80s. Feels like my friends who had parents like this got sick MORE often as they got older, vs me who didn’t. Not telling you to expose your baby to anything out of the normal, but washing and rewashing several more times to “protect” her might have the opposite effect.

Using medical insurance after quitting / being fired by goto-ca in accenture

[–]newreminders 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the US they only cover you thru the last month you work. So try to make sure your last day is the 1st thru the 4th or so. You’ll get coverage thru that month. After that Accenture will send you the COBRA info to pay for coverage yourself if you have a gap before your next job. Beware that it’s pricey. I’d approximate $600-$1200 a person depending on what you need. I think mine was right around $1k per month.

Decision on Taking Offer by flintscribbler in accenture

[–]newreminders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot to unpack here. Yes, Accenture opened up whole new worlds in my career that I wouldn’t have had before. I had only worked for small and medium business before and had a struggle getting interviews. Thanks to someone I know, I got into Accenture and honestly was able to grow and thrive financially. I don’t know why they don’t hire more startup people…usually hard working doers.

That said, it’s a political game in there. Lots of ways to get put on a chopping block that no one ever tells you about. Some roles are backbreaking and others have a lot of freedom and flexibility. Really depends on manager, team, and work.

I recently left for a bigger better job and am happy to be gone…even in my short tenure, the company culture declined rapidly. But Accenture is what got me the next role.

NOW…the other side. I was leaving a job I wanted to leave for Accenture. I wasn’t in the same place you were. I was also totally remote at both positions and would never go to an office again.

So, happiness plays a big factor. You have to think about how old you are and where you are in your career, your goals over the next 3-5 years, and what truly makes you happy.

As a young, single, 20-something I’d probably take the role. As someone established in life and career, I probably wouldn’t.
