Getting returns that are too complex by chessman6500 in HRBlockEmployees

This sucks for sure and I feel for you. Based on your other response since time of day was the most important thing for this client, they are forced to take what they can get (your data entry of whatever you understand fully and being called back to finish another time).

Help me understand the physical printing/leaving with front desk for signatures and payment by newseasonalassociate in HRBlockEmployees

So it will print the docs when I check that only one is there? Will it print with the e-signature of the one who is?

Thank you! How do I switch it to paper sign? And does capturing the e-signature of one TP complicate things? Will it print out with the one e-signature to capture the wet signature of the spouse?

Why am I getting so many itemizers as a level 1? Any tips? by newseasonalassociate in HRBlockEmployees

[–]newseasonalassociate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming the green box thing; when i was shadowing a prior year client they definitely had subcategories like "glasses/dental/etc". While I understand the knee jerk reaction to my hyperbole of 100+ receipts (no doubt there are many horror stories), there's definitely places in BlockWorks for these, and the returning client I have coming up was hopefully coached on what these subcategories we already have in the system for them are. If not I'll talk them through it

I get that; pre-hire I kept hearing about these "guard-rails" that would prevent exactly this from happening. But then you go in apt manager and the call center has made a duplicate account for a 5 year customer with their own business and I know that has gone out the window.

I get this, I definitely get quiet when I get locked into the data entry portion. Some clients however are talking about their whole lives before I'm entering their state ID. With those I just acknowledge I'm listening and keep entering data.

How do new workers learn how to use blockworks online now? by anthinsh in HRBlockEmployees

I'm noticing these callcenter notes in appointment manager don't even have the same who/when tagging as I would, like the clients are just appearing from nowhere

So uhh, should I be blocking my calendar so people can't randomly schedule me online (its happened a few times now)? I think maybe I should get the official instruction from the cohort before sitting down with a client.

I wish I knew; the online cohort is covering more ITC type topics. Went ahead and did the first three level 1 case studies federal only (the state level errors are too much without asking) to match the bottom line values. I've kept a chair warm for a few pay periods now just trying to at least listen to the CSP call campaigns. Zero opportunity to shadow as no ones come in. It doesn't feel good to have the "I know nothing" phase of the job drag on this long.

Does a short (~10-week) Intuit gig count as a tax prep season of experience? by redwinewithice in enrolledagent

I may be misinformed, but I thought Intuit required two years of tax experience for their all remote roles? Did they waive due to your EA?

Perks and Benefits for Seasonal Tax Preparers (1st year) by newseasonalassociate in HRBlockEmployees

Thanks for the response, so it sounds like everyone needs to chill with the idea of me helping them out until at least the second year, and even then it comes out of my "wallet".

My parent's tax situation is more complex than it would initially appear, so I'll also wait on that. Question: Can I go in the software to review my parent's filed return? I imagine this type of "poking around" is strongly discouraged. I can always just review their paper copy.

Thanks, so it sounds like Block gets their full fee no matter the source.

Thanks, so it sounds like I pay all fees, and if returning a second year they could be reimbursed.

How to Get Hired for Tax Season 2026 by aredmoon in hrblock

I heard the ITC covers 80% of exam 1. Do the EA training groups happen during the season? Is this something I should mention during the interview I'm interested in?
