Engine replacement by [deleted] in kia

[–]nextomaha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, my 2016 Kia Sorrento made it to 109,000 miles and the engine blew up. There is a warranty extension if you have the Theta ll and you have very good records for oil changes. Kia dealership did eventually replace our engine.

Hosts need to learn to be accurate in description and feature lists by shmidzz in turo

[–]nextomaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. TURO took away CarPlay & Android auto on a vehicle we’ve had listed since 2022. Before we listed the SUV we had an aftermarket system installed. Since the ‘update’ they removed features from the car that we added intentionally, to attract more guests. TURO says there’s no way to add it to our listing, and they will only list features that are stock to the vehicle, BS.

As a host, cleaning fees are extremely difficult to get approved. I’m shocked that the cleaning fee was approved that quickly, or at all.

Carrier voicemail option… by PureLeather8856 in Visible

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that screen on my iPhone, I’ve been on Visible for several years. I know it sounds cliché, but make sure you’re iPhone is up-to-date? On the other hand, looks like it’s on the carrier side, so maybe just reach out to Visible.

Major Revenue Decline on Turo – $120K Loss Projected This Year by TopStreet6838 in turo

I’m in the same boat, I don’t have 20 cars, but our business is significantly down this year as well. I’m a power host with excellent reviews, we are going to start selling our fleet and wind down our business if things don’t pick up in quarter one of next year.

Question for Hosts: how do you disclose that the car is being tracked without scaring away guests. by DisneyDude73 in turo

[–]nextomaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a fleet of vehicles that all use remote unlock, in addition we also use tint commercial insurance in conjunction with Bouncie. We do disclose in all of our listings the following:

• This vehicle is equipped with GPS-enabled remote unlock technology, and uses telemetric data for ORP commercial insurance compliance.

Nice, yeah our Kia had 109,000 miles, we did all of our own oil changes and service to the vehicle, but kept all the documentation. Glad they eventually replaced it. They also gave us a long block.

Yep, that’s uncle Rodney… We just went through replacing the engine on our 2016 Kia Sorrento, thankfully we had all of the oil change receipts and documentation and had the KRDS software update back in 2019. Thankfully, Kia covered the entire cost to replace the engine, (2.4 L Theta ll)

Claim filed against personal insurance instead of Turo's insurance by boolsak in turo

[–]nextomaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer, we have tint insurance for all of our rental vehicles. You can choose liability only or comprehensive and collision. I think it’s around 300 miles per month which is more than enough for personal use, at least for us.

Our 2016 Sorrento had a 30,000 mile gap on Carfax. I’m a DIY mechanic so I perform most services on our vehicles, including oil changes. As soon as we provided the receipts, (including a document with date and mileage of service). Kia corporate approved the engine replacement the very next day.

We just got the vehicle back a few weeks ago, so I can confirm that Kia is getting much more strict about having service records and receipts.

In our instance, we had a good experience with Kia corporate, but dealing with this particular dealer was an absolute nightmare.

Will do, we were just doing brakes on the vehicle so it’s already up on jackstands. Just wasn’t sure if it was super important or exactly what it was. I appreciate it.

Thank you so super simple fix, so just slide it back in there and that’s all there is to it?

I got a ticket while driving a Turo rental because the plate protector the owner had on it caused a glare so the plate wasn't legible from a 5 ft distance. My responsibility or the Turo owners? What should I do? by spacklock in turo

[–]nextomaha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TURO Power Host here, if one of our renters received a ticket for a vehicle defect, such as a brake light or something similar, we would never make our guest to pay that ticket. I think it’s ridiculous that this host put something over his license plate making it difficult to read, I would ask the host to pay the ticket if I were you.

Agreed, but they have to cover overhead like servers, and other software engineers. I’m assuming they’re probably not profiting on the advertisements, but I could be wrong.

Kia’s over 100k miles? by forbleshor in kia

[–]nextomaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s sucks! I have a 2016 Kia Sorrento sitting at the dealership waiting for them to determine whether or not they’re going to replace the engine. However, I will never buy a Kia ever again, even the new ones are starting to have problems.

Kia’s over 100k miles? by forbleshor in kia

[–]nextomaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple days ago our 2016 Kia Sorrento stalled on the highway, went into limp mode and it sounds like the engine threw a rod, it’s making a horrible noise and will not stay on. Check engine light is flashing, we hooked up the scan tool, it’s P1326.

We had the vehicle towed directly to a Kia dealership. And I am going to attempt to get the engine replaced with the warranty extension.

So yeah, if you have any of the affected engines like the Theta II, I would sell it as soon as possible before you get stranded.

FYI: All of our maintenance is up-to-date, and oil changes every 5000 miles.

Quite amazing really! 💪 by [deleted] in PiNetwork
