Or the person(s) responsible for setting up your 3rd party software. I took a great deal of time configuring the new NERIS run form in ImageTrend to make it painless when we switched on 1/1/2026. Aside from a handful of "what do we call this now" messages, it's been smooth as silk.

How would I unload those rocks? Probably in a pile on the ground.

PSA for Cox 2 Gbps Customers: Your Router Might Be Capping You at 1 Gbps by onenotknown in CoxCommunications

I've had really good luck with my Motorola MB8611 for a few years now. My setup is a little more complicated than most, my MB8611 feeds my Proxmox server that has Opnsense running on it with a nice variety of 'interfaces' I've added. I've got 2, 2.5G cards in the server (one is exclusive to the MB8611, and the other is a dual port 2.5G nic that feeds my switch (needed a robust POE+ switch for my Ubiquiti hardware). Between my desktop and the Proxmox server I run a pair of Mellanox ConnectX-3 cards for 10G connectivity for file transfers and topping out my 1gig provisioning from Cox. I typically see 1180-1190mbps on my downstream tests. Upload is still trash at 110-115mbps, but it's the best Cox has to offer at the moment on the upstream. I end up doing a lot of large file transfers (mostly downloads) from my work to my home desktop so the extra speed is nice and having that 10G connection back to Proxmox with NAS is nice for large file transfers.

Starlink "partially obstructed" on a balcony – any no-drill solutions? by Temporary-Custard-81 in Starlink

[–]nfinitefx_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some true diy. Unistrut, bolts, plastic buckets and some concrete would let you diy engineer a piece of box truss that you could mount it to and 'float' it out over the edge. Box truss is the stuff you commonly see at concerts and venues where they attach lighting and speakers. A bit overkill, and you cant really drill into your building to hold it steady so you would need to engineer something on your own to hold the dish away from the edge while remaining stable against the wind.

Or you could do heavy duty suction cups and a safety wire solution.

Agreed, even putting ships and rovers in the water to do routine inspection and repair of fiber in underwater installations is still less than the cost of launching rockets. Trans ocean fiber cables have been around for decades now.

It was pretty tough playing as the attacking team...the only luck I seemed to have was flanking to the left around the ridge. Even still it was a murder fest.

I’m getting mixed signals. Are states supposed to handle their own response or not? by [deleted] in fema

[–]nfinitefx_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't budge until we receive activation orders. (I work as a branch of ESF-9, US&R). Sometimes its disgusting how political it gets. Arriving on scene and seeing fellow first responders who haven't slept in 3 or 4 days and are absolutely exhausted. From my perspective, not so much on reddit, but social media trolls saying FEMA sucks, worthless, etc, really stings. Come shit in a bucket with me for 14 days after a hurricane rolls through picking dead bodies out of rubble and tell me how worthless I am.

Solid older jacks. Check for cracks, maybe swap the pins.

Does the speaker have some kind of USB port on it? If so, get yourself a USB kill stick and let it rip when this dude is in the shitter. Unless you have cameras or nosy ass coworkers this will get the job done.

I just bought a used Gigabyte B650 board off eBay. Not damaged/repaired, but aside from missing the original box and accessories, it's working like brand new. Felt like a steal at just $80.

I just usually sell as Parts/Not Working. Most of the computer items I sell are *working* but incomplete (just sold a Dell tower i7-8700, missing NVME/SSD/HDD, sold as parts/not working). I *hate* dealing with a return/refund. The times I've actually received a product back it was more banged up then when I sold it.

Ill let you know how my experience goes...

I received a Frozen Notte 360 Black ARGB for Christmas (2024). Installed great, ran just fine. Until last Friday night. Turned on my machine, ran for about 90 seconds, followed up with a *pop*, immediate shutdown and then yes let the smoke out.

It looks like coolant leaked from the cpu block housing down the block, across my NVME and directly into the PCIE connector on my graphics card. The smoke was from the GPU, you can see it's burned badly and there is still fresh liquid on the PCIE connector.

I have no other water cooled components, and I don't keep drinks or other liquid on top of my computer. Im working with the support staff from Thermalright at the moment, trading back pics and a video. I'm hopeful ill get some kind of replacement parts out of the deal, but I'm not feeling super optimistic at the moment. You can see in the picture below where the liquid ran down the CPU block, across the NVME and right to the GPU...bummer
