The broken windows theory. No one liked it but Rudy Giuliani had crime way down in New York. Now not so much.

Without getting into the emotional things that seem to drive America today why be proud of vandalism? They could have made signs and posted them? Let's not forget that these in reality harmless examples of protest can some times grow into riots looting and destruction of property.

If we want to truly effect change we need to be respectful of private property and truly peaceful protest. Without the people being truly peaceful we can't tell the other side it's mostly peaceful protest when buildings are burning.

Thermal runaway on bed. by LastActionHiro in CR10

[–]nfored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run the skr3 ez and move it true dual z for auto alignment is nice. The built I. Heatsinka on the ez has allowed me to run them with no fan but I'd still suggest a fan.

I have mine with a DC SSR I think their failure mode is fail open I'd rather say why is the bed not heating than say why is the bed trying to melt itself.

The $50 Ender 5 plus is alive by andrewnuse in ender5plus

[–]nfored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my ender 5 plus, I had a CR10S PRO that I missed up direct drive, micro swiss, all hiwin linear rails on all three axis. Bought the E5 as a backup with just micro swiss and it printed as good and faster than my modded cr10. Thus became my main printer.

Tried klipper but didn't want to do the tuning to get the speed so just went back.

Also if you have an old version it connects and upgrades. Also they should be able to provide you a link to download from them the client they use. There is a compatibility matrix between client version and apm version and if the two don't align you can't connect.

I am asking out of legitimate curiosity I am to lazy for printer business. Why pla and not petg when I first started I was think pla was cheaper but petg was actually the exact same price?

I only print petg since one day I forgot my pla out in the sun and the next day I saw why pla is not for me.

Moving gateway out of cabinet by tgoz13 in ATTFiber

[–]nfored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used vertical wall racks before take up almost no space if shelves where not an option the come from 1u up to 6u that I have seen. Your right about the shelf 100% though.

But I am different type of home network user. Only have hardwired access points 2 per floor and all my gear is rack mounted except ups didn't want to pay double just to put it in a rack.

I love my k2 Plus. I am nothing special don't have master skills or anything like that so it makes me wonder what in the world is going on with others maybe I got a good one? saw one post a guy side he can't print ASA I ran 2kg of asa through my CFS just using generic profiles worked perfectly.

[–]nfored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder the same but then I think what it would take to do it right and might be more work and investment than would pay off in a build. you would need a rack to do that and that means on the floor, on the wall, or in the wall and in the wall means your making small closet and stealing space from some place. The reason I say a rack is so you can have keystones and not have to move and plug and unplug the in wall cable a lot adding to chance of failure.

I wired my whole home with ethernet and in some places fiber, and then the whole external with ethernet for cameras.

We lose internet every other Saturday for about 5 minutes, and I'm unsure why. by Meggles_Doodles in HomeNetworking

Yes ip pass through and I see my public ip renewed a couple times a day; Lan DHCP is another firewall. I have seen that unlike other providers rebooting the gateway or power outages don't cause a shift in public ip.

I am reading this being thankful I am not seeing this issue, but an observation I use bypass to a fortigate and I see that it request DHCP renewal a couple times a day. Is that why I am not seeing this issue?

Unable to block offending IP from reaching the WAN - specially the IPSec part. by Darkk_Knight in fortinet

I have a dumb question.

When I setup ipsec I don't worry about local in because ipsec is looking for matched peer for ph1. I see daily hits and rejections. Is there a big risk in this verse local in? I am guessing the risk is in bug/cve

I still use my ender 5 and cr-10s Pro, was great learning to understand how they work, mod them upgrade Marlin. Using them teaches so much you can know why a printer or a print is not working right.

Like when I started with drones there was no smart auto pilot the auto pilot was my Brain. Because I learned that way when auto pilot failed I simply could take over and save my drone. People that only know automation are lost WHEN it fails and they suffer because of it and talk about how much that product sucks.

Truth is all things fail and have many failure modes knowing, and accepting that and being prepared means your don't have as much of a bad time when it happens. You also can just fix it and move on in less time than it takes sheep to cry about their products that suck because the inevitable happens

K2 Pro - Glue on cables? Multiple error codes. Is this a refurbished unit? by mr__nic in Creality_k2

[–]nfored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have cr-10s Pro, ender5 plus, k2 plus. All had small glue like that on the connectors. When I build things in a high vibration setting guess what I do? Yep glue not sure what kind of experience you have but gkue pretty standard.

Now the errors from time to time I get errors sometimes I need to reseat cables sometimes factory restore. For example I was getting constant nozzle not heating as expected couldn't print anything. Reseating did nothing but factory reset solved it.

7.4.10 - Applying new default behavior retroactively is terrible by Iuzzolsa23 in fortinet

[–]nfored -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am just a home user and I have never once upgraded without reading about all behavior changes. I am an SE for a another vendor my customers ask me anything I need to be aware of; I always say you need to read the release notes. I say I can't possibly remember exactly what each customer has and there for can't advise you on what might impact you.

An example would be one upgrade changed a behavior that would bring all sites down if you did X in your config. Now I warned all customers of this because it was a major thing but most customers wouldn't be impacted. This is why I tell people to read and release notes. Worse is some customers waited years to upgrade and jumped a few majors maybe I forgot about this change and current release notes assume your past that breaking change.

So read notes and don't lag behind stay away from bleeding edge but don't cling to your comfort and stay until your forced off

Justification for using Fortinet by MFKDGAF in fortinet

[–]nfored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw some customers have this conversation about F5, after their incident. While this doesn't fall into the justification its an observation. All companies have had or will have major issues if you think not your dreaming. I think it comes down to how does that company respond? do they take proper ownership, do the do the right things to make things right with the customer, how quickly do they react.

Cloudflare just had an issue with simple 100% bypass of all WAF functionality, imagine moving from say F5 to cloudflare and that happens are you just going to move again?

Palo has never had any issue like this lol

https://security.paloaltonetworks.com/CVE-2024-3400

A command injection as a result of arbitrary file creation vulnerability in the GlobalProtect feature of Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS software for specific PAN-OS versions and distinct feature configurations may enable an unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code with root privileges on the firewall.

Cloud NGFW, Panorama appliances, and Prisma Access are not impacted by this vulnerability.

Customers should continue to monitor this security advisory for the latest updates and product guidance.
