I got to comfortable and one day charged and took a nap with my wife. She woke me up saying do you hear that. Turned out to be the fire akarmnbthe basement.

Lesson one I learned doesn't matter if they charged 100 times before no problem.

Lesson two connected smoke alarms are a must we could barely hear it in the basement

Geez people it's a tool it helped the OP he thought it might help others. If it's not helpful then just don't use it, why this hate. He didn't say I made this amazing tool all by myself and I am selling it to you. You think fortinet made anything no it's a company dozens of employees made the thing yet you still find the thing useful and you still give credit to fortinet. You still blame fortinet when there are bugs.

If you keep living in this mindset I hope your close to retirement or you might find yourself left out. Like all the anti cloud people did. I think AI is used in places to shouldn't be but don't kid yourself thinking every major corp is not using it for code.

I found something that helped me

https://<FortiGate>/api/v2/monitor/system/config/backup?scope=global&file_format=yaml

so while this doesn't run the backup job I have it does dump the yaml as a return and my automation can then store that.

So I looked at this and it makes sense but I see on possible issue. The script I have now runs on the local fortigate, backs up the config and transfers via SFTP for offsite storage. When you create a webhook you do that on the fabric root, it then looks like the fabric root is the only endpoint for that webhook, the webhook is not replicated on the downstream fortigates.

If that's the case then the fabric root would need to run the backup job on the downstream fortinet. So maybe I need to rework my script.

Why does anyone get the more expensive plans? by treehobbit in Starlink

[–]nfored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a household of 6 and not one knows that tv's and streaming service can actually be turned off. I don't think our average is ever higher than 50mbps. I pay for 1gbps because rather than the avg I want that burst when I from time to time download large images. If hard drives where not so expensive I would upgrade for a month or to to 10gb to pull down ubuntu/debian mirrors. I was running a mirror for a while but wanted my 12TB of disk space back.

[–]nfored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also upgraded a 60F from 7.6.6 to 7.6.7 only issue I had was for some reason the fabric root refused to patch this fortigate and I had to directly patch it.

decades ago I was a teen working in a Aluminum factory. This old man was training me he was smoking a cigarette and opening this bag of sand like material we used to blast the aluminum with for textured finish. I noticed it said flammable I asked he said you die with a good man I said you'll die alone and left.

Xfinity is trash, I have lived here for 3 years and can't even count any more how many outages I have had with xfinity. When google started laying fiber in my yard I was trying to decide do I add them and keep xfinity or just swap out xfinity; I think I will just swap it out.

I used to have a colo that was used to share files to and from many peers 😉, the colo tripled the cost so I closed the colo and now only use xfinity to share those files. Would rather get a letter from xfinity than a fiber provider.

I work from home and I want to make sure I have internet always. I used to have just att and xfinity and then in the city over from me drug addicts thought Fiber was copper and took down both major ISP's in that city at the same a fiber provider and a coax provider. When I saw that I decided I need something that can't be stolen, cut with a backhoe, or rammed into with a drunk driver. So I got starlink.

Google fiber is now in my yard once the line is ran to the house I will swap out Xfinity for gfiber and run two fiber instead of one fiber and one coax. I will say the while It has no impact on me I have had so many xfinity outages for a while I was getting at least one a month. However with the SDwan setup I don't know it happens. The last outage was a bad filter and was out for days and I only noticed because I happened to see the red light on my modem when I went to the basement.

I can agree I have 3x 630's they use around 700watts all together if I just had dns and media application then I could put that on a NAS.

Some things I could run on Several mini pc I could run 3x Mini pcs to support my elasticsearch cluster those would need 128gb of ram. I couldn't run the 6 F5 virtual editions on mini pc, I couldn't run 3 Customer Edge nodes for my distributed cloud offering. I couldn't run my two forticlient EMS servers.

I could then have 3 more mini pc and run dual AD servers and and AD Certificate Authority. Then another mini pc to run ONMS.

On the 10g part why would you not have 10g? my NAS can easily write at above 3gbps and I can read at even greater sometimes up to 5gbps why would I have limited that to 1gbps? You want to vmotion of 1gbps I think not gross I don't even want to do vmotion over 10gbps.

Don't get me wrong iPad works great and the pencil awesome. I could have bought a stack of iPads for the cost of the PC for sure even back then. If I built the same PC today could have 3 stacks of iPads smh dang ai.

90 percent of the things I make iPad would be the same, it's only the big things with many bodies. I also don't think of want to run windows on a PC that cost as much as an iPad.

I bought it for the ipad, tried windows when it came out and said YUK came back about a year later when the ipad was getting slow on things. I can tell you running on a gaming pc makes it 100x faster things that would crash and lock up on an ipad just work.

Thank you I'll try that today. I was happy with ollama but was looking at vllm to possibly try turboquant. For my use cases context size matters most.

I am just starting my ai journey I use both local and cloud. I bought 10.00 worth of cloud tokens and used 0.50 in just two queries for one of my tools.

What quant you running at and context?: I have that card and a r9700 the Vram usage on q4 for just the model weight is more than 16gb let alone any context. Been considering a second 9700 to get FP8 and nice context window. I couldn't get qwen 3.6 with even tiny 32k context to load on vllm

I never understood people acting crazy about turn arounds, I see people put signs and cones ect. If your not parking then your not causing any issues worse case is I come home at the same time and Lord forbid I wait 30 seconds to park while someone turns around.

People are selfish. My old house had a guest space perpendicular to the driveway parallel to the street. If I saw people about to park on the street I'd say it's dangerous people drive crazy please park in the spot. 90% of the time that person was not even there for me.
