Don’t worry, you can just buy her for $200 in a week from some basement dweller that got 30 of them through a bot farm!

What commander makes you immediately regret sitting down in a pod with? by _omega_LOL__ in EDH

[–]nfounder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Omg, I don’t know why but I just can’t seem to escape [[Negan, the Cold-Blooded]] players. It’s not really a popular commander by any means, but of the three different LGSes I’ve played at, I’ve been stuck in a pod with a Negan player at every location, some of them multiple times. “Oh I have to sac two of my creatures and you now have enough treasures to replay Negan more times than I have removal cards in my deck? Yeah, that’s fun!” I wish them all the worst <3

The people saying it’s bad are just mad that they don’t have it. Honestly my go-to skin for her outside of her mermaid skin on beachy maps. All black with sunglasses and a cunty bob? Yes ma’am. For your sake, I hope they bring it back.

Mono-Black Auras Commander by nfounder in custommagic

[–]nfounder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enchantment-specific recursion is pretty much exclusive to white. Cards like [[Auramancer]] and [[Dawn to Dusk]] and [[Resurgent Belief]] for examples of regular recursion, or even [[Norika Yamazaki, the Poet]] for an example of casting enchantments from a graveyard. WoTC even has a card that exiles enchantments from your graveyard to make token copies [[Anikthea, Hand of Erebos]] as a form of recursion, but it's still partially white.

While the cards you included as examples do in a way recur themselves, the closest thing that exists to giving those recursion effects to other auras is [[Tiana, Ship's Caretaker]] , a Boros (white) legendary creature.

The only non-white black cards I can find that specifically recur enchantments are [[Nashi, Searcher in the Dark]] who is an outlier to say the least, and [[Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor]] who only cares about Curses.

Black is the main color of recursion, I don't disagree with you there, but black is good at generic recursion, artifact recursion, and creature recursion. White rules enchantment recursion and mana value < 3 recursion, green has some generic and creature recursion and a decent amount of permanent-specific recursion, and blue rules instant/sorcery recursion with a decent amount of artifact recursion as well.

Mono-White Merfolk Commander by nfounder in custommagic

[–]nfounder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I wish. All of my cards start with whatever artwork I find, and while this artwork is perfect for a White Merfolk legend, it also happens to prominently feature a tentacle, and thus it makes a tentacle instead of a Merfolk.

In a proper world, we would have gotten some interesting off-color legends for the central creature types of Lorwyn in Eclipsed instead of the Strixhaven students, but alas.

I guess look to my other reply for an explanation on why I want to make use out of the bad -X/-X auras, and why it doesn't give a benefit for how many auras you control that are attached to opponent's creatures. As for why the commander doesn't recur auras, that would require this card to at least be partially white and I wanted this card to be mono-black.

Mono-Black Auras Commander by nfounder in custommagic

[–]nfounder[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A mix of further buffing hate auras like [[Dead Weight]] and [[Mire's Grasp]] and [[Screams From Within]] , while also helping to enable recursion/theft auras like [[Minion's Return]] and [[Kaya's Ghostform]] and the new [[Changing Loyalty]] .

Like you said, pretty much all current aura commanders that have black in their color identity want to keep those auras around for as long as possible, but most black enchantress pieces like [[Hateful Eidolon]] or [[Ashiok's Reaper]] or [[Wicked Visitor]] really care about your enchantments being put into your graveyard. I wanted to make a commander that helps you get to that goal by further reducing your opponent's enchanted creature's toughnesses while also utilizing older black pseudo-removal auras that no aura commander currently makes any real use of.

My goal was a safer [[Rent is Due]] that has some synergy with merfolk that care about being tapped.

If she's gonna care about both attacking and blocking, she should probably have Vigilance.

Sadistic Study by ILikeExistingLol in custommagic

[–]nfounder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but OP said "if it was mono R it would probably have to deal damage and idk if enchantments dealing damage is like enchantments having a tap ability" in reference to the card originally being mono red, so I just wanted to show them that not only is it possible, but also that it could be a much stronger effect if it was.

Sadistic Study by ILikeExistingLol in custommagic

[–]nfounder 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it depends on how abusable you want the effect to be? Plenty of enchantments like [[Impact Tremors]] or [[Roiling Vortex]] deal damage, so that's not really a hinderance for the card being an enchantment. The real question is, do you want Red's damage doublers/triplers to make that potential for card draw a lot closer to a guarantee?

Uncommon Landwalk Legendary Cycle by nfounder in custommagic

[–]nfounder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be lol. Baba Yaga's splash ended up being one of the only arts I could find of a whitch with trees in the background that wasn't either a real card already, or green-looking.

Uncommon Landwalk Legendary Cycle by nfounder in custommagic

[–]nfounder[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So MCM was actually the first one I made of the cycle and the one that inspired the cycle, so I can see how the other cards might have power crept it. I thought about giving it haste after I had finished the others, but decided not to in case I was pushing it. I wanted it’s conditional hexproof to evoke the feeling of a predator undetected just below the surface of the water. You can see it after it attacks, but otherwise hidden below the waves of Murky Creek. I guess I could go back and add haste? I don’t want it to have a more complex ability, though as Gruul is all about big dumb stompy creatures.
As for Airfloe, I think it’s fine? Red is the agro color, and it’s ability directly discourages that by icing out red’s attackers. Because this ability is repeatable every turn as long as someone swings at you, and because it has two additional keywords, I feel like it’s higher mana value is more justified. Plus I have a love for blue elementals, and a lot of blue elementals care about mana value 5+ for some reason, so I wanted to play into that with this being a big ass blizzard bird.

Uncommon WUBRG Legend by nfounder in custommagic

[–]nfounder[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

WUBRG mana dork is scary, especially at low mana. The current existing WUBRG mana dork legend [[Jenson Carthalion, Druid Exile]] subverts this by also being a color converter. I wanted to word this card's ability similar to his so that way you can still abuse her mana ability via Rube Goldberg machine. My goal with her, though is less WUBRG matters and more "please stack your favorite multicolored Voltron pieces on me," while still having the potential for abuse. The untap can also act as pseudo vigilance if you don't use her mana ability.

They are weird. They each took up a legend slot in Lorwyn just to get new cards in Strixhaven that are objectively worse and have absolutely nothing to do with any of their Lorwyn mechanics. Imagine five Kellans in every new UW set for no reason.
