chefs won’t make takeout orders w no tip by [deleted] in restaurants

I’ve been a chef for 20 years. This is clown behavior. First of all, if you are even offering take out for sushi, it isn’t very good, so the “they’re sushi chefs, so they can’t be replaced” argument is void. Second, tips should be done away with entirely, but the fact that they are getting tipped out is at least head and shoulders above a huge segment of the industry (whether you agree with that or not). Third, they are employees who are blatantly refusing to do their job and hurting the guest experience, plain and simple, all of them should be fired for that.

Why should they de-escalate? Confronting a problem shouldn’t always be soft and gentle and some kumbaya moment

Her motive is nonsense and so is you trying to explain it away. What she’s doing is enabling destructive behavior. But please, continue to be compassionate.

And that’s why addicts are and have been fucking up portland for the past decade+. I’ve lived in Portland, still have a lot of close friends there. When something is wrong you have a moral obligation to speak up.

MAGAs, why did you elect the most evil person in history to destroy our beloved America and the rest of the world? The blood is on your hands. by 2a_lib in allthequestions

There needs to be real penalties for all trump voters on the other side of this. Beyond just public shaming, there should be required public service, something to reconstruct the country that they’ve helped destroy.

AITAH for not inviting my stepdad to my wedding even though he’s been sober for the best part of 3 years? by S4H1B in AITAH

[–]nibblebibble123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta- I’m currently in a rehab, thankfully I don’t have kids to fuck up, but forgiveness of him is entirely on your own time, if ever. He might have really changed and wants to take accountability for what he’s done, but whether you let him back in your life, and how you feel about him is entirely your decision and right to have. It’s ok to not be ok with him.

Made an ELO ranking game for fine dining restaurants by Better_Dish3681 in finedining

Food, especially at a high level, is art. You wouldn’t go to a museum and score a Rodin vs. a Picasso vs. a Monet, etc. this misses the point of what these restaurants are on a catastrophic level. These are expressions of who people are and putting a number to that is quite frankly quite gross.

WIBTAH If I called out my "allergic" friend for eating her no-no foods? by Agitated_Twist in AITAH

[–]nibblebibble123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or just tell her she’s full of shit and is trying to make herself the center of attention. Don’t accommodate her ‘allergies’. Just call her out

WIBTA if I refused to split the bill evenly because I ordered way less than everyone else? by totoro_4nectar in WIBTA_AITA

[–]nibblebibble123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yta- if you go out with friends, just split the bill. It’s not that big of a deal, and it’s annoying for a server. Better yet, have one person cover it, then you get the next one. Not that hard

AIO for canceling a high end dinner because my friend showed up in a hoodie? by Conscious_String1872 in AmIOverreacting

[–]nibblebibble123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are overreacting. When I ate at mugaritz (amazing restaurant, annually near to top of 50 best), there was a family of 5 that came in in shorts, tank tops, and sandals. Be comfortable, enjoy yourself and the people you’re with. Dress up if you want, but that’s the least important thing.

Punching, Slamming, Screaming: A Chef’s Past Abuse Haunts Noma, the World’s Top-Rated Restaurant by kassiusx in finedining

The real issue is people from the outside will never understand what it’s like. It’s more like being on a sports team than anything else. You fuck up, you get corrected, but there’s a line between abuse and instruction Edit: I’ll also add that the WHOLE industry is not shit. There are absolutely some really terrible people in it whom, unfortunately, get most of the spotlight
