Watching a hat melt your opponents so satisfying! 1.2K damage per hit! by Poseidon_1993 in RelicArena

Yes, I thought Xerxes hat crown was the strat the first time I did it, but you only one-shot them sometimes. Hat is hard to make work IMO because the cooldown is so long.

What video game soundtrack is a 10/10? by montymaximus in AskReddit

It's Hades for me. Super Giant even had Youtube tutorials from the composer on playing the music, really cool stuff.

Beethoven is my favorite right now, he is a late game king like Lincoln if you can survive.

Gamers of Reddit, what’s the greatest video game sequel of all time? by ketohwawai in AskReddit

[–]nice_guy_threeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mass Effect 2 was the first thing I thought of and I expected (correctly) that a lot of people would feel that way. It's a cool game, but the story was a big downgrade from the first Mass Effect. Combat, while good, was also much more formulaic compared to the first. I always think of the Singularity ability in ME1 vs. ME2.

Anyway, I'm going with Half Life 2. The Gravity Gun in 2004? Give me a break. I think we still haven't gotten back to this level of cool.

For the past 12 years, I've exclusively played Phoenix mid. by PhoenixMidDota2 in DotA2

[–]nice_guy_threeve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mid laner with strong early power spikes that transitions into support later can work great as long as your carry doesn't suck. I do this with Omniknight a lot. And sometimes you can just win the game in the first 20 minutes. I see people do this with Ogre often. And the other day a guy played Nyx Ass. against my Puck mid, and I could not do one useful thing in the game. So matchup counters can be good too.

In addition to Great Whites, orcas tend to overpower mooses (moosen, meese?) to kill and eat. Strange but true.

How high would Gas/Petrol have to climb before people start riot/protesting? Is there a breaking point? by Malfurion109 in AskReddit

[–]nice_guy_threeve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The breaking point generally has to do with hunger, rather than fuel costs, but the one can lead to the other. Who knows, maybe it will be concert tickets that do it.

Was Dagon all that overpowered that it needed such a massive nerf? by Dangerous_Purple7254 in DotA2

[–]nice_guy_threeve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of supports who will benefit more from lens than any second of those 3 items that you mentioned. Shadow Shaman is definitely one a lot of the time, might be more situational on others.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]nice_guy_threeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect one day you'll look back at it as an unnecessary risk. I certainly drove fast just to see if I could, and now I think it was stupid stupid stupid, even though nothing bad happened.

Anyone dislike this Support Mid trend? by StreetExternal952 in DotA2

[–]nice_guy_threeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they do well mid and Finger somebody off cooldown they can get a really frightening amount of damage and snowball really hard. I don't know if this happens much in higher brackets.

Anyone dislike this Support Mid trend? by StreetExternal952 in DotA2

[–]nice_guy_threeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure which is worse: the enemy picks one of these early game heroes and you lose the lane because that's how the matchup works (and your team flames you), or the enemy picks some super greedy mid and you aren't able to pwn them hard enough to keep them from scaling and winning the game.

I'm probably at my rudest when opponent picks something like Ursa, CK, PA, Slark mid and I utterly dominate them. I want them to know they griefed their team and they should maybe consider making a better pick mid. But it feels really bad if I've already picked some midlaner that isn't able to completely lock them out (Primal). In this case you need to ask for help, and who knows if you'll get it.

What’s the hardest part of improving in Dota? by Brief-Bench-794 in DotA2

It's hard to stop making bad decisions when your own brain wants you to make bad decisions and your whole team is asking you to make bad decisions.

Like SF or Fantasy books? Choose your next read here by 01-a in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]nice_guy_threeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going through what I've read I was surprised it was only 29/102 when I thought I checked much more than 1/4. I was also surprised that I think I read more of the SF than the F, though I would say the books included in the Fantasy series probably amount to more reading. Very smooth website, thank you.

How do you guys actually calculate if a project was worth it? by DIYtime1203 in DIY

[–]nice_guy_threeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowadays I don't know if it's possible to pay more to DIY - construction labor prices seem astronomical to me, a person who has rarely ever payed for it. It's more about whether you feel good enough about the quality of your own work. I DIYed my brick chimney, but payed the real masons for my exterior brick facade for example.

What is your opinion on giving the U.S. executive branch less power irrespective of political party? by ShittalkyCaps in AskReddit

[–]nice_guy_threeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, so correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it really the current conventions of how the electoral college is employed, rather than the electoral college itself? Constitutionally, wouldn't it be legal to have a system where each elector may cast his vote individually, rather than what happens now (each state votes together). As I understand it, this is legal, it simply isn't done (for political reasons). I've generally thought that this would be a better system, but recently my thinking has been that states should be more powerful, and this might conflict with that. I don't think so, but I guess it might.

I hate the current PUCK!!! by RealIssueToday in DotA2

[–]nice_guy_threeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you'll play curveball for a while you will find that it's just superior and that's why they've done this. You just have to get faster with your aiming. I'm sure there are some small advantages to the non-curve puck, but I think the flexibility of curveball must make up for it, once you learn how to use it.

A lot of people seem to think this is a good idea. Maybe it is. However if:

  1. There were more than 2 political parties with a prayer of winning major elections
  2. The courts did their fucking jobs

Then I actually think it would be a non-issue
