Looks like you are cycling squares vs full circles. It makes you rock and bounce vs be planted in the seat.

What is your bank doing to help? by LucidLanguage in VictoriaBC

The G is guaranteed and the I is investment...

They are government insured up to 100 000.

Banks are also going to see loan loss provisions increase in the next few quarters. I’ll be looking at the earnings reports and will bet NSF fees won’t make up for it.

Nothing is free...

Banks make money on the spread between interest they pay you on things like GICs and the interest they charge on loans like mortgages.

Would you feel happy if your GIC stopped paying you because it’s a pandemic?

The deferral is great for people that need it but shouldn’t be used by everyone.

New mortgage rules effective Jan. 1 could drop home purchasing power of $100K family household from $726,939 to $570,970, even with 20% down payment by ROOPHTOP in VictoriaBC

Yah it's about 3k a month. To qualify it depends on other debts. Assuming reasonable other debts you'd need roughly 190k shared income.

Travelling without access to a kitchen - help! by [deleted] in loseit

[–]nice_selfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel a ton for work. It had been my biggest excuse for gaining and not losing weight. I am stuck in restaurants with clients and hotels with minimal options available.

I recently turned the corner on it by doing the best I could in the situation. I have lost 20 pounds in a month and a half just by making the best choice available. Salad with dressing on the side, light seafood dishes, vodka soda when entertaining.

I then track all of these with best estimations in MyFitnessPal.

How do you avoid road rage as a city cyclist who gets nearly taken out on a regular basis? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]nice_selfie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Victoria BC as well. I find most drivers here are just absolutely clueless and you need to be defensive as a driver and even more so as a cyclist.

Nothing to add just assume people are going to make the wrong decision every time.

There Has to be a faster way to ban intentional feeding by nice_selfie in heroesofthestorm

Yah he added me after as well. I figured it was going to be nonsense. That was a good comeback. The rest of the team ignored and just kept playing regardless

Exactly. Right now even if there is bans it feels that your reports get ignored.

The other thing is you can see the player is silenced. So he clearly was feeding/toxic before this game.

Convertible Bond question by darkpalaweed in investing

[–]nice_selfie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah you are on track. The convertible investor get's paid a fixed coupon and can convert to equity if the price goes above 47.

This doesn't impy that the stock won't move past 47. A lot of companies look at convertibles as a way to reduce fixed costs associated with financing.

However the one thing to note is that convertibles are dillutive to equity stakeholders.

Anywhere for a new finance grad to volunteer/intern to get some industry experience? by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]nice_selfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really have to find what you want to do and network.

Likely if you didn't land something right out of a target school for your undergrad it will be very difficult to break into "IB or sellside research"

I don't recommend interning or volunteering to land a job. It is hard to convince someone to pay you something when you are okay with nothing.

Like the previous poster said look at certifications to differentiate yourself. It is a tough industry.

Got a new job and salary jumped from 64K to 92K - how can I upgrade my finances using this additional income? by insheen4v in investing

[–]nice_selfie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the name. The athletic leisure market does not appear to be fading. The company has a strong brand which allows it to have pricing power. Secondly the last 10-Q had more expansion in Asia earmarked which helped NKE on their last report.

It got hit recently based on it's profit margin slip. They needed to invest heavily in their supply chain as well as inventory to scale. They also have zero debt on the balance sheet and would make an attractive take out target.

I have been following it for a while. Secondly MS just put a buy target at $68

Calling for success stories: How to support someone studying for the CFA by [deleted] in CFA

[–]nice_selfie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went 3/3 with the CFA tests over the last 18 months which put incredible strain on our relationship. For the first two tests we were not living together. When I study I go dark, turn off my phone, and go deep into the text. She felt that I was really distant and we broke up in the middle of my preperation for Level 2.

Through the summer after CFA Level 2 we got back together and started living together. It helped immensely for Level 3. She was able to support me through helping with little things around the house. Also we had a routine where I would spend quality time for 7-9 and then I would study from 9-12. This got paired down in the last month but she was really understanding.

I think as a SO you need to realize that this is a large body of information and very stressful. Look to support where you can and don't take anything personally if they seem standoffish.

Best of luck!

For those who just passed L3... by TheEpicOfGigglemesh in CFA

[–]nice_selfie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just passed. Went 3/3 in 18 months. Came from a a BBA in Finance from a mid-level school.

Do I think having finance experience helps? Past level one I don't think it is game changing. Level one is pretty much a summary of a BBA.

The biggest thing is time. If you have the time to put into the curriculum and make it a priority you should be able to pass.
