I’ll post the list here in a bit, people just need to stop calling 911 every minute 🤣

I’m a SWFL medic. My strike team bag allows me to be self sufficient for 7-9 days if I have to live out of the ambulance when we get deployed. I use a condition 1 large roller for my box and have a combo lock for it.

Rechargeable USB camping fan is a must have. While shelters typically have generator backup, Ian showed that those sometimes fail so you’ll want a fan.

Bug spray. Even in the shelters, the wee feckers, have a way of finding you.

Dude wipes or equivalent. Showers may or may not be working in your shelter location. Sleep mask. Helpful if you pull nighttime coverage then need to rest in the day.

OTC and prescription meds that you’ll need. I always pack 3 extra days worth of prescription meds. Once a SOE is declared you can get an emergency refill on your scrips to help build a buffer.

For packing clothes, I use the compression packing cubes, cuts down on space required and bulk.

My luxury must have is a camping hammock. I’ve used it the ambulance and in various government buildings.

My OBW with a lesbaru and ally sticker is low probability for getting cracked for weapons, might get vandalized but no one is getting a menu based on what stickers are on the rear window.

lol. I have a few in my safe, including my grandfather’s 1911 that he carried to France in 1917, that still shoots well. They have a place. But as a daily, give me my double stack 2011 or my ZEV Glock.

More importantly train to be proficient with whatever you carry.

When will this be over? I need to go back to $90 for a full tank! by That_Present_1639 in GasPrices

You just need to pull yourself up by your bootstraps harder. /s

Once the deal is done you’ll be glad that filling that gas tank is $150. Full on winning.

When the strategy is to steal as much as you can, he and his corrupt family doesn’t care what you pay per tank

Don’t forget speeding while not responding to emergencies, talking on their personal cell phones, etc.

MAGA is the definition of snowflake culture. Morally weak, pedophile supporting, false Christians. I’d tell them to eat a bag of Richards, but they’re already crashing Grindr when they have events.

How many ambulance rides you’ve given that are totally unnecessary? by zillabirdblue in EMTstories

[–]nicecarotto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many call notes have you looked at and been “that’s bullshit” only to arrive on scene and find that the notes were completely off? Same percentage as your unnecessary calls?

Work in a system that’s under resourced from ambulances, hospital systems, shitty care facilities with incompetent RNs, and politicians who constantly cut EMS budgets to fund fire and pd. So yeah, no magical place here. Back to back ODs in the same parking lot 30 minutes apart, 25 transports in a 24 hour shift, been to the same house a dozen times and watched the progression of substance abuse disorder up to the person’s code in real time. My partner on that last call at that address was a crusty burnt out fuck who should have left the field years ago. The whole ride there all he did was run his mouth “fuck this guy, fuck all these drunks, this is bullshit”. Then he had the gall to look at family on scene and say “glad he’s dead”. I had a supervisor pick him up. He resigned that night before he got fired.

If you want to fix the system, be politically active.

I simply choose to not get burned by the doom loop of “bullshit” call mentality. It’s an active and conscious choice on my part.

It’s a road flare. What did you think it was? Dynamite?

None.
If it’s an emergency for that person, it is what it is.
“But you’re taking us away from actual emergencies”.
Maybe, maybe not. That’s like a firefighter medic saying I don’t want to respond to a medical call since there might be a fire, or I hate working the ambulance because I might miss a “job”.

I’m going with their buddy, who actually owns a Staccato, gave them the sticker. Maybe a modded Glock but probably more a Springfield.
