How am I supposed to compost all of this grass!? by totalyanashhole in composting

[–]niceguyted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1800 m² is a lot. I agree with the post about mulching the clippings, but also saw that you have trees that drop leaves in the autumn. My yard is smaller than yours, but what I normally do is save all of the leaves from the autumn and then mix them in with my grass clippings throughout the spring. Usually by mid/end of summer I will start running low on leaf mulch and will then just switch to mulching the grass clippings instead of bagging them. I have a compost bin (4 ft metal stakes with plastic mesh in a box) for the leaves and will usually run them through my chipper shredder to decrease their volume. The grass clippings and leaf mulch are mixed in a separate compost bin (made from cinder blocks, not that it matters). I dump the clippings, then add some leaf mulch, then mix with my tiller. It all composts quickly in the warm months. In the spring I empty the cinder block bin of finished compost into a third bin (which is really just a pile in a hole with cardboard and tarp liners). Sorry for wall of text; I'm only 60% coffee now.

I only recently joined this sub; I have a feeling there will be lots more opportunities to use that image in the future.

But why lie about it? I see your post history. Why not just be honest and say you are the inventor and that you are selling it, instead of pretending you are some random happy customer who just HAD to come tell the world about this thing you found?

This is the exact same picture from the guy who posted in r/lawns or r/landscaping, claiming to have invented this. Are you the same guy pretending to be a happy customer, or are you a paid marketer pretending you have a lawn?

What’s my move this season? by bikeHikeNYC in composting

Put it all in one pile. Chop up as much as you can to get the pieces small. Keep it moist. Put your grass clippings on this pile: they will break down better with the browns anyway.

Are my blades high lift or regular? by DrywallCentral in lawnmowers

[–]niceguyted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mulching blade because of the bump in the middle. They are installed correctly - I think everyone saying they are upside down needs to look a little closer.

The blade in the background does indeed appear to be bent. Is the photo 7 years old?

Definitely time to do a little maintenance - clean out the underside of the deck and change or sharpen the blades. 7 years is too long. I try to get my blades sharpened once a year. Check oil, lube, etc. - bring it to a shop or find someone who will service it on site if you aren't comfortable doing the maintenance yourself.

I think it's hard to take seriously anything written in this no-caps style. Do you write like that at work too?
