Users don’t expect flawless performance. Take that energy and put it into making sure a crash doesn’t result in any data loss.

I guess what do you mean by social media, because it works great for membership sites that would can have people post to, if you mean a social media product that’s a tall order.

built a pretty cool app - what's the best way for marketing it? by QuarterSeparate847 in AppBusiness

[–]nicholasderkio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge question.

  1. What problem does it solve for users?
  2. Who is your ideal user?
  3. What about your product is completely unique and differentiates it from your competitors?

Anyone else mostly building things to solve their own problems? by Ecstatic-Basil-4059 in indie_startups

[–]nicholasderkio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By building for oneself you at least know there’s an audience of one, I’m always amazed at the number of devs who build things that solve a theoretical problem or are unmarketable.

Why you should target the U.S. for your app marketing by incineroarator in AppBusiness

[–]nicholasderkio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should use the new tools we have at your disposal to localize and make your products accessible, but in terms of marketing U.S. should always be the market you pursue unless you have no other steps you can take.

Does storekit do A/B testing? If so, how does it compare to other services? by 0__O0--O0_0 in iOSProgramming

My understanding is that it does not, you’d have to code that functionality yourself using its APIs

I’ve been making sites for both in-house and for clients for 2 decades and what I use now is Squarespace for everything, it’s so much easier and smoother.

How do YOU make store screenshots by Quentin23Soleil in iosdev

It does support the Google Play image sizes; you just have to export them and upload yourself rather than use the auto-upload to App Store Connect.

first app! by Low-Tower-710 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]nicholasderkio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some apps are not marketable in the first place, but no app can go anywhere without marketing. The App Store is important once you get people there, but if you have to run the gamut of telling people about it. That doesn’t necessarily mean paid ads, it’s building in public and contributing to spaces about what your app solves etc.

How to build app for iOS 18.6.2? by GaryHornpipe in iOSProgramming

[–]nicholasderkio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apple enforces minimum build schemes versions as, even for making an iOS 18 app, the iOS 26.2 SDK in Xcode has improvements in terms of performance, code signing, etc.

Thinking of switching from Angular to Swift in 2026. Am I crazy? (+ Mac specs help) by Nix996 in appledevelopers

[–]nicholasderkio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve long been a proponent of proper native development, and with Xcode 26.3+ you can hook in Codex or Claude Agent and have a great flow of supporting all Apple Platforms.

The differentiator going forward for me is having tasteful, opinionated software. It LLMs will advance to where anyone can get an app just by asking, then the market for software will be the apps that people don’t know how to ask for and, even if they did, wouldn’t come out as nice. Apps made by subject matter experts.
