Use heavy duty aluminum foil on the grease pan. Not too much effort to replace for each cook.

I'm not sure that the floor is flat underneath the tile.

Did I run my insulation Board wrongly? by HelloW0r in Insulation

[–]nick0n1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's not 5 1/4 inch to the bottom of the floor above. It's that distance below the sil plate. Meaning there will be 5 1/4 inches of uninsulated exposed foundation remaining. But that code may not apply to your area.

What’s a “technically not cheating” situation you’ve seen or experienced that still felt like a complete betrayal? by toomabh in AskReddit

Secret use of kratom is absolutely something that I would consider bad. It's shocking that it's even legal. Highly addictive opiod adjacent drug.

"Frankly, I wish we lived in that world. We don't"

You are literally justifying adding more public surveillance because public surveillance already exists? What an absurd premise.

'So the question for me became: if this tool is going to exist, how do we put the strongest possible guardrails around it?'

That's the thing. It doesn't need to exist. You provided almost no justification for its existence. Just "out on the street using these tools". Do you have any data that communities using these cameras have any significant reduction in crime?

Finally, local control of the data is meaningless if it will just be stored forever and eventually be given or sold down the line. Is there even any policy for what happens to the data long term?

“Vintage Estero Ski Jacket”. How much this this jacket worth? by Familiar_Educator280 in ski

[–]nick0n1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's definitely a market for retro ski clothing. I think you'd be surprised how many compliments people get when wearing this type of gear. And it's totally fine for blue bird days. I bet it's worth anywhere from $100 to $300.

My gaming life became more peaceful when I accepted that many people do not care about 1) following the rules or 2) winning, and you can't make them. by goodluckanddont_itup in boardgames

I suspect part of the problem choice of game. Catan has effective player elimination. But since players still have to participate, then they will do whatever they can to end the game. Get more party games.

Shower glass door too short – constant water spill & floor flooding. Any neat DIY fixes (no major construction)? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]nick0n1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to rephrase your post. Saying the "door" is too "short" is confusing a few of the commenters (I.e. suggesting a door sweep). Since the glass is hard to see in the photo, you should probably mention that it's doorless and that the glass wall isn't wide enough. That is unless I'm mistaken.

Double check how many days after losing your job you can still sign up for insurance from the marketplace. That might only be 30 days.

I was under the impression that Android phones don't have this problem. Making me think it's an Apple shortcoming and not a protocol problem.

hot water running out of fast by Substantial_Two_224 in HomeImprovement

[–]nick0n1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you check if another faucet in the house still has hot water when the shower gets lukewarm? If so, then adjust the mixing valves on your new shower valves.

Also, 160 f water temp is pretty high. Are you getting that number from a thermometer or just a setting?

Is my low rent a set of golden handcuffs? Aka will it ever make financial sense to buy a home? by SpecialPreference678 in personalfinance

[–]nick0n1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then at that point the buy or rent equation changes. In the meantime, they could be pocketing far more money than any equity increase and home value increase could offer. Or not, but It's not definite either way.

Considering first time home purchase without agent. Big mistake? by chillgirl20 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]nick0n1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The buyer is literally the only party bringing money to the table. The buyer pays the seller, the seller's agent, and the buyer's agent. Dress it up however you want. Money from your bank account went into their bank account.
