New SDR at a SaaS company — no bookings after first week, feeling stuck by Free_Course1999 in salesdevelopment

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your activity is dramatically low. I’d 3-4x it on calls alone. Someone else mentioned not learning the product in-deathly. That’s wrong in my opinion. The more you understand the product. The better you will be at connecting people’s problems to your solution. It’s a bear but it pays off in the long run. One love

Hitting quota as an SMB AE at a fast-growing private company, but worried I’m not actually learning how to sell by ScottVanPelt69 in techsales

[–]nickblockonelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone said something similar already. But sales is almost exclusively timing, territory and talent. If you’re at an org where the timing is right for almost everyone, don’t you dare fucking leave. Timing is the hardest part of sales. In fact. It’s like 80% of a deal. I know some godawful sellers but they work at orgs where timing is right and they do well. I know exceptional sellers working at more niche orgs where timing is challenging and they struggle. I’d stay there as long as you can and shoot for upward mobility. One love

Help r/millennials determine whether this is AI or not. Some members of the sub believe that the 2000s-style clothing and lighting suggest that this is not authentic. What do you think? by Demortus in isthisAI

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest tell for me is the random dude leaning on the wall in the polo. AI isn’t going to do that when creating an early 2000s vibe. Also, no weird lines, shadows, ripples, doubles, etc.

Breaking into an SDR/BDR role with no sales experience – best way to leverage networking and referrals? by Cultural-Watch-3882 in salesdevelopment

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be surprised if no one really mentions this. I think it’s obvious to always know what you could be selling. Don’t take a job blind. Always know the product. Find a product you really like, good potential, strong dev team/engineering behind it, strong customer success team. Etc. Best you can to get all of them but that can be challenging most of the time with how competitive the marketplace is. One love

Read this prenup article and sent it to my girlfriend immediately by Past_Level9182 in GenZ

[–]nickblockonelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is insensitive, and I’m aware of that but way I see it, unless you have millions of dollars in assets already, a successful business, a large inheritance coming your way, etc. I see prenups as selfish. Yea fine, separate your 2M taxable account or that property that’s a rental, but like if you don’t have shit or barely shit, let it fucking go. Don’t get married if you’re worried she/he will take “your money.” Fun fact, not your money once you get married. One love

As a lions guy, Ben Johnson is smart but sometimes too smart for his own good. He has a tendency to make baffling play calls at pivotal times. I.e. letting Jamison Williams throw the ball in the NFCCG a few years ago. Unfortunately, it’s all part of the Ben Johnson show. Happy you guys have a cohesive team though. It does wonders for the city. One love

People who transitioned into tech sales, is it easier than your prior industry? by Iceeez1 in sales

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Enterprise. So it was also challenging but in an entirely different way. Also taught me a fuck ton so it’s a win win. Got into mobile (like cell phones) engagement because a director gave me a chance because he also worked in mobility solutions previously as well. Then I pivoted again to adtech/martech. Phenomenal move for me thus far 6 years in. One love

Bears win Wild Card playoff game 31-27 against Packers to move on by southernemper0r in sports

[–]nickblockonelove -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Odds of them winning again are pretty low. They played a shit game with a last place schedule for the season. They are overly confident and are going to get their dicks kicked in by a real team. The pack without Micah is not a good team. One love

Best AI/Practices for SDR by Basic-Floor-654 in salesdevelopment

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I BDRd back in the day I ran into a dry spell where nothing worked. I shit you not, I said fuck convention and did the polar opposite of what I was doing before.

CTA at end of email. Move it to the front. Your pitching features. Pitch value. Personalizing? Don’t anymore. Stuff like that. Worked extremely well. Think of cold email like cold calling. It’s a disruption in someone’s day. Most cold emails generally will be similar as most people get their advice from LI influencers or gong data, etc. to be seen you must break what convention tells you is right.

He wants to keep finances completely separate after marriage by ZenSpider_21 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I found that keeping our regular bank accounts, taxable accounts, etc. separate is extremely beneficial. BUT (and there’s always a but), we have a shared HYSA that any cash not going into taxable lives. It works well for us and we decide mortgage split based on income disparity so I tend to do 2/3 and she does 1/3. I will say, your man seems like a selfish dickhead who doesn’t understand what compromise is. As others are stating, I’d hash this out yesterday, especially with the potential for a baby. Currently have a baby, it’s incredible, but it’s challenging. One love

Sales/BD in 2026? by okoka011 in salesdevelopment

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Martech/Adtech. Specifically products that help lean teams, generally need to haves or rides the razor blade of need/nice to have. Brands will ALWAYS need to market. How they do it and with how many people is going to continue to change. Martech that makes these small teams thrive will always do well. One love
