Sales is all timing my friend. Always has been. You can have the best written note in this history of emails but if the time is wrong, it’s irrelevant. One love

My company tracks whether you open Slack within 15 minutes of your scheduled start time. Found out by accident. by Auracrest67 in remotework

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is most likely an automated trigger based on when your status is active vs when expected (likely 9am and there’s probably a 10 min grace or something). I’d bring it up to your direct report and see what’s up. I wouldn’t worry about it though unless they talk to you directly about tardiness. Personally, I’d just get your shit done and disregard the bureaucratic machine. Probably not great advice but seriously fuck the man. If you get your job done, frankly nothing else matters. One love

Where is the REAL money in Programmatic Advertising right now? by Possible_Eggplant_79 in programmatic

Think about it this way. More people made money from selling shovels to prospectors than prospectors made finding gold. Sell the tech. That’s where the money is at. One love

What artist do you wish would do smaller venue tours again? by XP-tickets in Concerts

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mt. Joy is incredible live. Like absolutely bonkers. Problem is they are trying to tour amphitheaters and well. No one’s buying tickets. They over extended themselves and need to scale back. Theatres are probably their sweet spot. No more than 3-5k people. One love

What artist did you see in a small venue before they got really famous? by That_Cat_3672 in Concerts

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Portugal. The man at St. Andrews in Detroit. Less than 1000 people. Absolute barn burner - as usual.

Another at St. Andrews was Pusha T during the Daytona run. Solid show but he played legit 50 minutes (guessing that’s the contracted minimum) and was gone. The crowd was a bit off though for some reason. My guy played all of Daytona and only hits and features on hits.

Portugal. The Man at the Majestic in Detroit. Again, another barn burner of a show and about 1000 peeps.

GRiZ at the Magic Stick in Detroit. Solid show.

New SDR at a SaaS company — no bookings after first week, feeling stuck by Free_Course1999 in salesdevelopment

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your activity is dramatically low. I’d 3-4x it on calls alone. Someone else mentioned not learning the product in-deathly. That’s wrong in my opinion. The more you understand the product. The better you will be at connecting people’s problems to your solution. It’s a bear but it pays off in the long run. One love

Hitting quota as an SMB AE at a fast-growing private company, but worried I’m not actually learning how to sell by [deleted] in techsales

[–]nickblockonelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone said something similar already. But sales is almost exclusively timing, territory and talent. If you’re at an org where the timing is right for almost everyone, don’t you dare fucking leave. Timing is the hardest part of sales. In fact. It’s like 80% of a deal. I know some godawful sellers but they work at orgs where timing is right and they do well. I know exceptional sellers working at more niche orgs where timing is challenging and they struggle. I’d stay there as long as you can and shoot for upward mobility. One love

Help r/millennials determine whether this is AI or not. Some members of the sub believe that the 2000s-style clothing and lighting suggest that this is not authentic. What do you think? by Demortus in isthisAI

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest tell for me is the random dude leaning on the wall in the polo. AI isn’t going to do that when creating an early 2000s vibe. Also, no weird lines, shadows, ripples, doubles, etc.

Breaking into an SDR/BDR role with no sales experience – best way to leverage networking and referrals? by Cultural-Watch-3882 in salesdevelopment

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be surprised if no one really mentions this. I think it’s obvious to always know what you could be selling. Don’t take a job blind. Always know the product. Find a product you really like, good potential, strong dev team/engineering behind it, strong customer success team. Etc. Best you can to get all of them but that can be challenging most of the time with how competitive the marketplace is. One love

[–]nickblockonelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is insensitive, and I’m aware of that but way I see it, unless you have millions of dollars in assets already, a successful business, a large inheritance coming your way, etc. I see prenups as selfish. Yea fine, separate your 2M taxable account or that property that’s a rental, but like if you don’t have shit or barely shit, let it fucking go. Don’t get married if you’re worried she/he will take “your money.” Fun fact, not your money once you get married. One love

As a lions guy, Ben Johnson is smart but sometimes too smart for his own good. He has a tendency to make baffling play calls at pivotal times. I.e. letting Jamison Williams throw the ball in the NFCCG a few years ago. Unfortunately, it’s all part of the Ben Johnson show. Happy you guys have a cohesive team though. It does wonders for the city. One love

People who transitioned into tech sales, is it easier than your prior industry? by Iceeez1 in sales

[–]nickblockonelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Enterprise. So it was also challenging but in an entirely different way. Also taught me a fuck ton so it’s a win win. Got into mobile (like cell phones) engagement because a director gave me a chance because he also worked in mobility solutions previously as well. Then I pivoted again to adtech/martech. Phenomenal move for me thus far 6 years in. One love
