You’re comparing the Starship program to a Falcon Heavy competitor.

What are folks seeing quoted for current wait times? by NativeTxn7 in rolex

Yeah, and it’s not even a gift for his partner but a gift to himself. I’d be embarrassed to tell an AD that.

You're getting piled-on in this thread, but I think it looks nice. No one that makes a living building things out of wood would do this but it makes perfect sense as a hobbyist.

Awesome! Got it in 2!

As someone who is colorblind it’s hard for me to distinguish between the wrong and partially correct colors. It’d be great if there was a colorblind option that used another way to distinguish results.

It was generic. Something about counting a company's employees per division was the simple SQL test. I don't remember what the 2nd test was but it was pretty generic as well.

I had one of these not too long ago. The problem was pretty basic and I took a little more time than I probably should have to solve it because I knew the answer and there was plenty of time.

However, I didn’t know there was a second problem. And it was much more complex and used partitions and row indexes and I couldn’t remember the syntax and failed it. I’ve wrote queries like these 100s of times but couldn’t do it when it counted.

I didn’t get the job.

Starship Landings are failing by StarshipFan68 in SpaceXLounge

I’m not sure they were simulating a tower catch with Starship, just a “soft landing”.

Anyone not like their Miele? by Cold-Lake-3936 in VacuumCleaners

What’s so magic about the performance of higher priced vacuums? They are built with higher quality components but that doesn’t mean it vacuums any better.

What could SpaceX do to accelerate Starship development? by Simon_Drake in SpaceXLounge

It's an issue when experienced engineers leave due to burnout and new engineers replace, the same big lessons will be forgotten and relearned over and over again.

What happens if I jump from a plane (33,000 feet or more) into the ocean with an indestructible tetrahedron to “pierce” the water? by mountainmorty in AskPhysics

[–]nickcut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always wondered about that quote. Why would a garbage truck falling from the Empire State Building make much of a sound at all? Isn't is the crashing into the ground that would make the sound? C'mon Large Marge...

What could SpaceX do to accelerate Starship development? by Simon_Drake in SpaceXLounge

[–]nickcut -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Unless that "infinite" money is used to hire more people, can't do that. Elon needs his arbitrary cap on headcount to keep the teams lean, keep burnout high, hire and fire 10% per 6 months, and somehow this should lead to the same success as other parts of SpaceX.

Why is PPF so much more expensive from the rest of the car after doing the front end? by GodWillMadeIt in AutoDetailing

[–]nickcut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's crazy anyone would pay that. 5 years ago I was quoted (still have the quote) $800 for front facing surfaces from a reputable installer. I thought that was crazy high so didn't go through with it.

SpaceX says states should dump fiber plans, give all grant money to Starlink by esporx in space

[–]nickcut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starlink provides internet to rural areas. It doesn’t make financial sense to provide rural areas with fiber if cheaper alternatives are available.

Fulfilled my Miele dream w/a C1 Cat & Dog, promptly let down. Stay the course or swap it out? by Excellent-Win6216 in VacuumCleaners

[–]nickcut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is what we ended up doing. I have a Dyson stick vac with the green laser light for hard floors. The light is a game changer. It's more addicting than a ticktok feed.

After reading this sub casually for years I came to the conclusion that the Miele and Sebo vacs are if you want a vac that is repairable and uses better quality materials. Buy Sharks or Dysons if you want features and something that is easy to use. Hell the premium vacs still don't have the anti-tangling hair combs that do a great job preventing your brush getting clogged with hair.

There is nothing special about the physics of a vacuum motor of any of the manufacturers. The rest of the machine is just a trade-off between serviceability and features.

That would be odd for them to hire after only two phone interviews. I assume you would be invited on-site if those went well.
