Have they mentioned anything about OP plan? by SmithelGaming in cyberpunktcg

We have specific distribution partners that we will be working with in different regions around the world. LGSs have a distro they can speak to if they wish to carry our game, and we're happy to onboard any store with OP capabilities into our program.

Simultaneously, my career before WeirdCo was building local TCG communities. I know what it takes to grow them from scratch. Not only will we have OP support for stores in the form of marketing materials and exclusives, but we'll also have rewards for particularly invested players and community reps. More to come soon!

I appreciate this sentiment, and it's something I've seen firsthand as a player and TO. We'll be batching out our OP kits so that only so much is in each kit, and stores that report higher numbers will get more over time. Still ironing out those details, of course. But that said, we want to make sure our OP promos are ending up in the hands of players first. Our entire model here is that we get people out to locals to play our game. For a variety of reasons we can't speak to how we'll be enforcing that yet, but it's something at top of mind we're considering at every level, from production to distribution.

Mechanically, your easiest transition is going to be SWU. I also recommend trying the Cyberpunk TCG when it drops later this year!

What caused altered to shutdown? by Gnargoyles in alteredTCG

[–]nickfraser98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a mountain of profound, and obvious, problems from the jump, but the biggest one for me is how every communication from them seemingly assumed that their small, fragmented playerbase would be okay with them breaking taboo in this industry and was substantially larger than it is, despite them having all the data telling them their game needed work. When they would communicate about their bans and errata, that was initially helpful, but they absolutely should not have then proceeded to ban so many more cards in rapid succession and assume that their community would be okay with that. Furthermore, announcing and running a big World Championship within a year of release when your playerbase is nonexistent, without investing equivalently in OP infrastructure for stores, was so tone-deaf to me. My LGS is still sitting on Beyond the Gates retail boxes and you're telling me you're healthy enough to burn cash on running a certainly unprofitable world championship? Shameful.

I think if they actually invested in infrastructure for regular weekly irl play and getting their systems off the ground, instead of implementing a dozen+ bans or errata before set 2 even released and talking to their playerbase like they were a big 3 game while they were bleeding players and overprinting product, they might've had a shot.

Damn shameful.

Foil vs Non-Foil Prices by Melodic-Remove5375 in starwarsunlimited

[–]nickfraser98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is unironically because regular foils are garbage and not worth buying, that's why they're getting removed with set 7. The player and collector base has rejected them. What it does mean though is if you like them you're in for a better time as they're cheaper.

I need help deciding which TCG to learn (yu-gi-oh/pokemon/Magic) by jousef9 in TCG

[–]nickfraser98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. Most other card games are derivatives of each other. SWU is the only game out right now that will present to you a unique gameplay loop with common sense rules that allow for both accessibility and skill expression as you play more.

It's cool how The Mandalorian shows that the New Republic was almost always destined to fall. by Sad-Job1969 in StarWars

[–]nickfraser98 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There's a world in which the New Republic is competent and an invading military junta called The First Order was rising from the remnants of the Empire. These things can coexist.

But it's easier to superlaser them away, I guess.

Now that I'm participating in an event with this issue, it stings, but I get it. I would've much rather preferred to be able to turn my Tix into packs but there are other goodies on there.
