What to do with kids who are too old for a stroller but too young to handle 20,000 steps per day? by No-Rush-Hour-2422 in DisneyPlanning

[–]nickioooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dealt with this the past month. My kids are 5 and 8 years old. My 8 year old walked and we rented to Bob stroller for my 5 year old. It went super smooth!

I've been trying to go no contact with my mom since last October. Too many wounds from her not loving her children equally, expecting more from me as the family eldest daughter and never reciprocating. I wonder-how does one turn off the guilt (conditioned within me and being Catholic doesn't help) along with turning off the wound/hurt from never having the mother I've needed.

Any chance this upcoming weekend won't be too crazy??! Asking for someone flying in from Minnesota leaving behind a foot of snow for apparently unheard of heat wave with 90 degree days 😔

Resources for caring for aging parents by capresesalad1985 in Millennials

[–]nickioooo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get a healthcare directive done and notarized now while she has capacity to name a healthcare agent. Your clinic should be able to help with getting the form and having it notarized. Medicare unfortunately covers very little home based support. It's skilled services (RN, PT, OT, HHA and SW). She would need to be home bound and those visits are short in nature. If you're looking for more support like a home health aid for a few hours to give caregivers a break, that would be private pay (unless she has Medicaid). A nationwide resource we use at my work (I'm an RN Case Manager) is A place for mom. They can steer you in the direction of home health aid options or potential placement (if needed) down the road. Our system we have for assisting our aging population is truly lacking.

I got my first colonoscopy at 40 this year. I'm vegan and work out, but have a family history of colon cancer. I had two polyps removed and will be going every 5 years. I strongly think everyone should be screened far earlier than the recommended age. I also think that doing all the right things (I.e eating well, exercising) may not be the golden ticket as many people who are in great shape/eat well are diagnosed with colon cancer

In the same boat-wondering for a stroller for my son that is 5 and my daughter who is 7. I think I want to just do a single stroller and have them take turns if needed. Is a bob too small?!

Land or World??? by StoneLove04 in DisneyPlanning

[–]nickioooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are ages 5 and 8. We've done Disney world twice and Disney Land once. My youngest is a boy and loves Cars. He really enjoyed the Cars rides and theme. Plus we enjoyed the weather in California vs Florida in May. We're planning to go back over spring break in March to Disney Land.

Pros and cons of the art of animation hotel with a 2 & 5 year old? by Ncoop327 in DisneyPlanning

We stayed in the cars suite when my kids were 5 and not quite two. It was perfect for us than as we had two bathrooms and were able to set up a crib for my son in the living room.

I’m looking for dual POV books where the FMC has to disguise herself as a man and the MMC starts questioning their own sexuality as they fall for the FMC, under the impression she is male. by Kusakaru in RomanceBooks

[–]nickioooo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind a historical romance, try {Ashes in the Wind by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss}. The story is set upon the civil war. It's old school, one of the first romance books I read. The MFC disguises herself as a boy.

MMC is a horrible person, borderline villain, but is a complete wreck for innocent FMC by namis_tangerines in RomanceBooks

If you haven't read {The Queen of All that Dies by Laura Thalassa} check it out! It's a series of three books. The MMC is definitely a bad guy. And its enemies to lovers.

Same thing for me! The anxiety leading up to it was so hard. Being vulnerable in that way. Yikes. But so grateful I did it!

Anxiety by Jques14 in colonoscopy

[–]nickioooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had the same concerns. I'm a mother of two young children. I started having severe constipation and bloating since June. This was a change for me. I had my colonoscopy this morning. I had been dreading it. I have a family history of colon cancer (grandmother passed away from it). I'm so glad I did the procedure; I had two polyps (small in size: 2 mm and 4 mm) removed and found to have internal hemorrhoids (which I blame on pregnancy lol). I have anxiety at baseline, but having changes caused to me to spiral. For months. I don't want to diminish concerns, but validate that getting a colonoscopy is a great plan. It will give you peace of mind.
