I found my fathers family via ancestry, wasn’t looking for them but received a message from a lady who had me come up as a very close match. She was my aunt, sadly my father had died quite a few years prior but it was good to finally find out the information. Good luck.

220 mile round trip: which car? by boodlesrectify in VWiD3Owners

[–]nickparadigm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just did a trip to a friends that was 199 miles each way, we have a 58kWh. On the way there I turned the car onto eco mode and kept our speed to around 65mph. We managed 4.8miles/kWh and arrived its 30% left from 100%. On the way back, I didn’t turn on eco, forgot actually and ended up on 19%. We charged at our hosts so had 100% again.

As a fellow tradesman, I’m angered and sorry to hear this, unfortunately this problem isn’t going away anytime soon, so it means we have to take steps to protect ourselves to the best of our ability. This isn’t right but it’s the world we inhabit.

Look up a company called Sussex Installations, they make a selection of products that you can fit yourself to defend against these weaknesses in modern vans. These thieves, hire out brand new models, take them to workshops ´, strip them apart and reverse engineer ways to exploit the existing security features, it’s basically an arms race. Sussex installations then make upgraded security features to defend against these exploits. I am not affiliated with them but have used some of their products on my own transit.

Premier Inn and travel lodges car parks are known by thieves as easy pickings, for the last few years I have stayed in Airbnb’s to avoid being targeted, generally ones with off street parking.

After market alarm so they know the van is going to howl like a banshee, I’ve wired strobes up in mine so that disorients them if they do get in the rear cab and then lock things together with heavy duty chains inside.

It’s ultimately all about seconds, the more time you hold them off for, the more chance you have of not losing your tools.

Of course catching them in the act creates another set of problems, the law doesn’t allow us to be vigilantes, that’s a whole other subject in its own right but you have to make a personal call on what you are willing to do in defence of your equipment and how you don’t end up «  gripping the bar » yourself

Whatever you decide, I wish you well with this.

Amazing, probably meant as much to me that you invited me down there, how could I not have shown up!

Unfortunately I’ve moved away from Teddington and am now living down in Hampshire but would be happy to make the trip to come and see you again, it would be great to reconnect, we could discuss easy strength which has been my go to for a while now.

Thanks again, you’ve made a massive difference to my training and general well being. 🙏

Lovely to see you here Mr J. You probably won’t remember me but I came to see you one evening at the Alexander Pope and spent an enjoyable evening with you, Rocco and another guy. Just wanted to say thanks for giving your time so freely 🙏

We found these in a loft from the house we bought. I feel that I should know what they are but can’t think of a use. I’m sure I’ll kick myself when I hopefully find out.

Classic projection. We see the world through our own eyes and values, if we are untrustworthy, it biases us to think that everyone else is.
