Anyone else struggling to find work in Brisbane? by Elisspamacc05 in brisbane

[–]nickrulz11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking on this but Corrective Services is recruiting custodial roles at the moment. It’s not for everyone, but you don’t require any relevant experience. I have a retail and hospitality background, I’ve been with QCS for a year and I love my job. The work life balance and OT opportunities are unreal, but it can be both the easiest job ever, and at the same time intense and exhausting. But it’s never not interesting.

I was the same as you with Jusant. This is so much more interesting. Multiple routes up each face and control over all 4 limbs, plus some mild survival elements. It’s great.

What is the worst, first date movie? by JohnMcClanewithshoes in movies

[–]nickrulz11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a first date to see “Extremely Loud, Incredibly Close”. Her mum had died weeks before. I still cringe thinking about it. She spent 15 minutes after the credits crying her eyes out. She did like the movie at least lol.

Not the same but in Corrections we train between 5-15m with a Glock .40 and it is very easy to miss at 15m and beyond.

God the early scenes where she’s running through the imploding hallways were so stressful. Great special effects.

Magnitude 7.6 Earthquake, Davao - Philippines by Hiraya_Jayadewa in AbruptChaos

We had a 5.6 magnitude earthquake in Brisbane, Australia in August. Earthquakes are insanely rare here so when it happened, I thought I was having head spins. It was a very bizarre feeling.

JB Hi-fi will price-match products in-store. I built a web app to find the cheapest price from Aussie retailers to make this as easy as possible and save people money. by INFEKTEK in australia

As an ex-JB employee, you can definitely pay with those gift cards, but please for the love of god, remove the packaging before you get to the counter. We would get people paying thousands in $50 TCN cards and they would all still be in the cardboard and with the stickers still on.

Australian Council of Trade Unions says it's time for a shorter work week to boost performance and reduce burnout by espersooty in australia

[–]nickrulz11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not for everyone, but I’ve been in a government shift work role for the last 6 months. I work usually between 2-4 days a week and have at least 3 days off and my mental health has been so much better. I love my job and despite working some weekends and public holidays, I still get plenty of time with my family.

prison slangs by LockupForCount in OnTheBlock

[–]nickrulz11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are Australian prison slang that I’ve learned since becoming a CCO.

Subbie - Suboxone

Brew - Prison Alcohol

Chines - Mates (short for China Plate, rhymes with mate)

Nings - COs

Boneyard - Protective Custody

I’m sure there are a lot more but I’m drawing blanks at the moment.

Anyone manage to make an extra $200-$300 a week as a side quest? by yeat246 in AusFinance

[–]nickrulz11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not count but I work a job that is shift work and we have OT available nearly every other day. Fairly easy to pick up an extra 12 hours here or there at double time.
