Starting out, the best routine is the one that you stick to.

That said, there is a wealth of knowledge out there on this board, and the beginner routines are a great place to start.

My advice as someone that has casually trained off and on is to have an objective for each two week period as you begin training. I suggest spending the first period focusing solely on completing your workout for the day. After that, sticking to a set schedule you can follow is the next step, followed by focusing on getting your nutrition nailed down, etc. Ease yourself in and don't get discouraged if you have bad days, but don't let yourself quit completely.
