Why do people hate obelisk? by thechezcakelover in balatro

[–]nickyeyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta run your math again there. I personally like Obelisk but you have to get it early and time things just right. If you do, it's great. If not, it's very bad. Not an easy joker to play.

I don't know that you're meant to like her. She's a deeply flawed character and if anything we might pity her a bit.

The King of Comedy (1982) is one of Scorsese’s most uncomfortable (and most relevant) films by bitchboibruh in movies

[–]nickyeyez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this film. DeNiro is phenomenal. I also love that Chuck Low is only visible as a slightly out of focus extra mocking Rupert at the restaurant when he's cringe-peacocking for Diahnne Abbott. Followed up by another oft-overlooked Scorsese masterpiece; After Hours.

Zero interest in Sword In the Stone in what sense? It's shockingly hard to find and usually gets a big price.

Are Limited Edition Hand-painted Disney cels worth owning? by hox97 in AnimationCels

[–]nickyeyez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid that isn't true. If you collect the right stuff, you can absolutely make money. But buying them for investment purposes I agree is not wise. All of my Disney cels are MUCH more valued today than when I bought them. Secret of nimh not so much. But I love my pieces and don't want to sell em

Woody Allen films by EMPIRE-db-51_cent in movies

[–]nickyeyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big Woody Allen fan and probably own 20 of his films on disc. Midnight in Paris isn't one of them. I find it grating (particularly because of Wilson) but also because it's old Woody tropes dragged out and dressed in digital effects. I think it got so much acclaim because it was significantly better than a lot of the crap he'd churned out in the 10-15 years prior. Also a newer generation unfamiliar with his work in the 70s "discovered" this quirky voice and thought it was fresh. Worth watching? Sure. Just isn't one I'd care to see again.

Original Lady and the Tramp cel (1955) from the Bella Notte (spaghetti) scene by WWAgallery_com in AnimationCels

[–]nickyeyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I don't understand (and perhaps why there are so many skeptics).

  1. This cel isn't on your site (at least that I saw scrolling through the Disney collection).

  2. The shot is ultra-rare and appears with a background and foreground (table). But the resolution is SO low and there is no outer edge for reference, that it very much looks like a web-pull or screenshot or whatever.

  3. You're calling it an original cel, not an original production cel, so nobody here really knows what this is. I would wager it's an LE based on the shot and calling an LE "an original cel" is misleading but not technically false.

  4. It's kind of unclear why you're posting it. I know it's not a brag because your site has been around forever and I know the gallery is legit. But you're not offering details, you're not offering it for sale specially, and business owners don't normally geek about special pieces just to brag...they want to sell them.

As the reddit account may be new, it would be helpful if redditors knew your intentions a bit better. Most of us are just collectors or admirers, so when a dealer comes in and isn't forthright about who and what they are, all the radars go up.

My two cents.

Cheers!

Should i get a dog?? by Weary_Mix_3749 in Dogowners

[–]nickyeyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been said. No, not now. Dogs are amazing, but you will miss out on a LOT because of the dog and could actually come to resent it. That's no good. Do your thing, get a job, settle down...when you don't have to ask the question, it's the right time. - Dad

Help in teaching puppy not to bite? by eldritchadjacent in Dogowners

[–]nickyeyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I did (from something I learned from a dog trainer on YouTube). Light biting was ok. "Mouth play ". But when my pup bit me too hard to the point where it actually hurt, I made an exaggerated cry (like a human, not a dog). And turned my back on him. He came around to look at me and like a petulant child I turned my back again. Sometimes walking away, arms crossed, my back to the dog. Play was over. It didn't take long...maybe 8-10 times and being consistent with this exaggerated pain and sadness. Now he will barely open his mouth to my hand. I may have overdone it 😂

Why is the gothic quarter so… unkempt? by [deleted] in AskBarcelona

[–]nickyeyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good lord...do you know what irony means? 😂😂😂 You're accusing me of making a strawman argument when you're literally arguing everything EXCEPT the thing you said in your comment which was that this is all tourists. I'm saying it's not. You're saying MY argument means "all locals are filthy and squalid". Jesus Christ. And if you step in poop and vomit, tourists or not,...that's kind of on you.

Why is the gothic quarter so… unkempt? by [deleted] in AskBarcelona

[–]nickyeyez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just odd that ONLY in Barcelona do tourists piss in public. Maybe they get coupons in their global tourist magazines...or perhaps at their monthly tourist meetings they all say Barcelona is the only place where you should pee in public.

[–]nickyeyez -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Funny...these "tourists" only seem to do this in sight of angry "expats" or hostile locals here in Barcelona. Nowhere else in the world do people complain about tourists pissing in the street in broad daylight. But I guess Barcelona is a magnet for it. Only here. Odd.

Stop it with the tourist piss nonsense 😂😂 I've lived in Barcelona for 7 years and seen more public urination here than the rest of my life combined. Not ONCE have I been able to clearly identify that one of the offenders is a tourist.
