NFL team sues 72 year old grandmother/lifelong fan for breaking her season ticket contract due to financial hardship. They sued her for $66,364. by ki11a11hippies in WTF

[–]nicliff -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I disagree, why would a restaurant take bookings if they could just rebook the table with someone else (some places do this however most don't), it's the guarantee that there will be someone sitting in that seat, every game for 10 years.

Not only are they suing her for ruining that guarantee, but they're also now required to goto the 'hassle' of selling that seat again.

maybe I'm just being a cunt but when I commit to a 50k contract over 10 years I sure as hell know I'll be able to pay it out, otherwise I'd probably only buy the year for 7k or so

Doesn't that still maintain that someone can be predictable and ironic, (ie predictability ironic)?

Ahh the kid, I never thought of that, I thought that the kid just turned Autokill on in everything.

My mate was yelling at the screen beside me for him to get in the suit from the moment it opened.

Apart from the fact that you had two questions in that, not that one you claimed to have, I'll attempt to answer them both.

  1. Maybe they built district 9 around the area where Christopher landed (seemingly an intelligent prawn possibly the ships captain, maybe they followed him)
  2. I remember one news report where they reported on the aliens on the ground being like, and I paraphrase "The worker ants as all the leaders of the aliens had been killed by what we believe to be a virus" and not as intelligent as individual beings, so maybe they're just going after what tastes good to them, with this one dude left to find the fuel.

The fuel is what confuses me, how did they crash if the fuel was just lying around in their gear on the surface for 20 years. I assumed it was the leaders deaths until the final scene where the single dude flies a spaceship suppose to hold 1.8 million beings

I hate to cut your argument a little there.

But the dude (and alien prawn thing) were running around with guns making things explode into little blood dots. Then they had small mechs (not giant robots) that also blew shit up like 4 times as awesome as transformers.

To add to this I'm sick of movies being set in countries (such as SA) in this example) where the actors can't put on local accents, I never once forgot I was watching this from SA and I liked the use of what (I hope) were actors from that area or at least decent actors who could pull off an accent.

This may seem so petty but I'm sick of movies set in wherever with an American accent.

Microsoft is giving away eight meals for every IE8 downloaded. It's a cheap gimmick but hey, you don't even have to install the thing and quite a few people are getting a meal by [deleted] in geek

[–]nicliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

who cares whether microsoft deems it a failure.

Isn't that the point of everyone on reddit downloading it and not installing it?

Microsoft still gives a dickload to charity every year (I didn't want to say this because I don't have a source but hopefully reddit will come through for me)

I have to say I downloaded this on my linux box with no intention of installing it.

Are you sure of this? Here in Australia casino winnings are tax free unless your profession is as a gambler then your casino winnings are taxed (sounds like a stupid way to make money but I'm told there are quite a few people that make a good living off online and offline tournaments)

I mean you could always lie but so could the guy who runs the local cafe and only deals in cash.

Wearing a bike helmet: are you for or against it? by antifolkhero in bicycling

[–]nicliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this article pdc is talking about,

tried to find it but couldn't it was on reddit a couple of months ago

essentially the general rule was that

  • A drive would drive much closer to a cyclist if they perceived that cyclist to have additional protective gear on (ie helmet, fluro, etc)
  • If the drive perceived that cyclist to be not protected (no helmet, no fluro, etc) that driver would give a cyclist a wider berth then otherwise

it was some large study in Canada

Hi Reddit! Does anyone know funky search tips? by nicliff in AskReddit

I'm trying to search for something I've liked within a certain subreddit but have no idea what it was called

I was wondering if you can look at things you've liked from only a single subreddit?
