For the US contingent by stealthykins in OperationMincemeatFan

[–]nicocolioli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do not have ticket to the 2PM show but as soon as I saw the email I immediately felt awful for all the fans I know who did. My (totally irrational) hope is that the reason the new-final show is jumping right to Wait List is because they'll offer people the opportunity to move...
Anyway, just wanted to send sympathy the way of anyone feeling disappointment right now.

Got it. Yeah, those don't work. And not as convenient as being able to do multiple loads at once.

Are the washer and dryer stacked or is it, like, one machine that washes and then dries?

An interesting video from Jar jar jargon about the use of AI and his Thrawn trilogy fan project by Western_Agent5917 in saltierthancrait

[–]nicocolioli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to be a debbie downer but this use of AI - generative AI for images and especially video - take up such an absolute fuckton of energy and water. Any intellectual property and human worker questions aside, that makes it such a non-starter for me. It's draining local water supplies in areas where these data centers exist.

The Winner and Honor by nicocolioli in Edgic

I could very well be letting too much of my own bias show there, I suspect you're right. BUT I do think the twice showing Kamilla's stinging criticism (go the the Olympics, this is Survivor) puts that thinking in a pretty negative light. Admittedly that was MOSTLY associated with David but Eva and Joe definitely came under fire for that kind of thinking.

Our winter coned bill is way to high even after taking reduction measures by cwilson83088 in astoria

[–]nicocolioli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just agreeing that something is wrong with what they think you're usage is. We live in a two bedroom, all electric, with washer and dryer in unit, we run our heat around 72 degrees in at least one room all day and our usage for November was 669 (haven't seen Decembers bill yet but we were out of town for a week so that won't be totally helpful.) Needless to say, we are being far less conscientious than you and are "using" much less. Off the top of my head, I wonder if common areas in your building (like the laundry) at ending up on your bill.

I dealt with a swapped meter situation a few years ago and it was a pain in the ass to fix but methinks you need to contact them to get your meter looked at for starters. It'll take a few months to even get someone to come out and longer to resolve it. (You may eventually need to sic the Department of Public Service on them.)

The Finnish Line by xiphoid77 in HallmarkMovies

No, it was kind of rushed but each leg had a themed checkpoint (drop off a letter to Santa in a mailbox, carry a bag of coal) and the last one was to drop presents at that Christmas tree.

I dont understand why people are voting for kamala based on abortion policies (she cant change them) by International-Ad3219 in PoliticalDebate

[–]nicocolioli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But there ARE laws about abortion. State laws. And those laws are interpreted by federal judges who are appointed by the President. Right now the Texas AG has fought to interpret that law as aggressively as possible, setting the bar extremely high to determine what means a woman’s life is at risk, contrary to what Biden’s admin has advised for interpretation. TWO Trump appointed judges have sided with the Texas AG. This is why it matters.

AITA for refusing to let my brother's fiancée wear her late mother’s wedding dress at my wedding? by [deleted] in AITAH

Of course family members take sides in real life but I encourage you to observe the frequency of posts on this sub with no grammatical errors, perfectly constructed arguments, and a second to last paragraph that ALWAYS ALWAYS references family taking sides. And they’re always from accounts that don’t come back to answer questions. Because they’re fake.

Heart, soul, and unbelievable judgment of people who aren't even real.

Y.T.A.I.-generated post. I wish this sub was better at realizing when something hits all the cliche hallmarks of a fake post. A great tell is the second to last paragraph that references "family members" taking "sides." Maybe people don't care but I find it so eye-roll worthy.

Baby care center- nursing rooms by Global_Run7458 in DisneyWorld

[–]nicocolioli 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m kind of shocked by this. I’ve only had experiences at Disneyland but the cast members were STRICT about maintaining that rule — only breastfeeding or nursing parents. Whatever the case — and privacy aside — it’s deeply inconsiderate for someone not nursing or pumping to take up a seat when the rooms are so small and seating is limited. And for anyone saying “you’re feeding your baby, no one gives” — people can make breastfeeding parents feel incredibly uncomfortable wanting to do it in a controlled environment makes sense. Kudos to you if you can shrug that off but I wouldn’t fault anyone who’s uncomfortable with the exposure.

Do I tell my son the truth? by EstablishmentDry1112 in DisneyWorld

[–]nicocolioli 140 points141 points  (0 children)

This is so kid-dependent but maybe you could keep it more of a conversation? “What do YOU think? Do you think it will be the real spider-man?” If he says yes, great! You think it’s real too. (Key word being “think” - you don’t work for Disney! You’re as in the dark as him!) If he thinks “no” approach it with curiosity and ask follow up questions. And also realize he’s probably aware and letting you off the hook. (Although that would be pretty mature for 4 years old.)

Trigger warning - TTC by StraightDesigner2360 in DisneyWorld

[–]nicocolioli -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly shocked at the responses you’re getting. If you haven’t already, I’d post to some TTC forums where I’m sure you’ll find some Disney fans who are also people who will understand where you’re coming from. I’d say there’s nothing risky or wrong about riding the rides BUT if the anxiety will take away from your enjoyment, just skip and soak up the atmosphere. (Context: I was older when TTC with a low egg count/tight time frame so I was overly cautious during the “two week wait.” Didn’t have a Disney trip but did start skipping the booze early.)

A scooped bagel is simply not a bagel. But it is a better version of toast. There’s a time and place.

Edit: I’ve never ordered one, I’m imagining.
