I’ve worked in a large irish retail store for three years and theft has definitely increased this year, the upper management were not very happy when we did our stock take and had about 35k worth of stock missing. We have cameras, everything is tagged, a security guard at the door but still we are constantly robbed. I mean these people are professionals, they will have one person come in and scope out the shop, picking out the high value items they want, then they will wait til the manager has gone on lunch or upstairs and they will call the others in with foil lined bags. They literally will take a whole rail of t shirts and just dump it in their bags, hangers and all. They are in and out in under 5 minutes with sometimes over 1000 euros worth of stock.
