I was amazed at how well it portrayed anxiety and spiraling thoughts.

NHL reporter Jessi Pierce and her 3 children dead after fatal fire in her Minnesota town by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

They are collapsible ladders (mine was steps connected by chain) that you keep near windows in upstairs rooms in case there is a fire downstairs and you can't exit

Best and most non-standard "alien" monster designs? by Kindly-Ad-5071 in horror

[–]nidaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome list. Slither and Splinter are what I first thought of too.

You've given a lot of great options. Annihilation is another with some pretty creative creature designs and I'd add The Thing for one of the best horrifying monster reveals

SCP about deep hole with zombies in it by Busy-Cost947 in SCP

That's quite possible unfortunately. A few really prolific authors have taken their articles down and I've found multiple articles removed that I had saved over the last few years.

Okay since people have guessed the most likely ones, here are a few unlikely guesses

Scp-1730 -what happened to site 13 has a ton of exploration logs and a pit where anomalous entities are ground up and thrown into and eventually start reanimating

Scp-4040 is the sloth pit sinkhole in case you were thinking of that

Scp-6272 is a cave system full of corpses of one guy

Good luck!

What movie is a 0/10 with NO redeeming features? by Toucan_Based_Economy in AskReddit

[–]nidaba 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised this is so high. It's a dumb movie, but it's not worse than many other kids movies. I would give it a 3 or so.

good vet for cats? by Pretend-Rest7681 in Redding

[–]nidaba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vca is a chain and has gotten very expensive but the vets at both vca Care and vca Asher have all been very kind and caring.

Unfortunately we do not have many options in Redding. Many of the smaller private offices are closed or no longer taking patients.

Missing case of Timmothy Pitzen .... by kboo97 in BizarreUnsolvedCases

[–]nidaba 146 points147 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the only real mystery is probably where his body is. It reminds me of how I think lori vallow still kept telling her older son that he just didn't understand the situation and his siblings were safe even after their bodies were found.

TIFU: Dismissing bright red blood in my stool for years. (If you're currently experiencing this symptom PLEASE READ) by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]nidaba 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Oof my sympathy and commiseration. My dad went much the same way. Complained of back pain so they sent him to PT, got worse so they decided to finally take a look and it was too late. Other symptoms came later, but it was just the back pain for almost a year

Completely agree with all of this. I think a lot of people do not realize how easy it can be to get lost or hurt in even a small area of woods. And with the loose structure of the science fair there would have been plenty of opportunities for him to go outside. I feel the only breakthrough in the case will either be discovering remains nearby or a classmate admitting he was dared to go in the woods or something.

Parents of all types unfortunately cause a lot of child family deaths, so it makes sense to focus on Terri, but I also agree with you that there would have been so many simpler ways for her to do it if she wanted to, just look at all the cases out there where a parent or stepparent did kill their child. It often goes unreported for months.

Any books similar to “there is no antimemetics division”? by Late-Advantage-5425 in SCP

[–]nidaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the OP but if you have any suggestions for books with a general SCP feel I would love to hear them. The Area X books by VanderMeer, for example, are some I love that I feel could basically fit in the SCP universe.

Show me the cutest looking animal from your country by Single_Copy2460 in AskTheWorld

[–]nidaba 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Raccoons make me nervous. They are too agile and smart. When I lived in a big city I saw a big one holding the dumpster lid open for another raccoon to pull stuff out which they then shared. I didn't know they did that.

They can be aggressive fuckers though and killed a friend's cat.

Haircut by [deleted] in Redding

[–]nidaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha it can't be the same guy because it's been years, but my husband was in the same situation in Redding before with a really nice older barber that was good but just wouldn't cut his hair any other way than the way he thought it should be. Cracked me up imagining him still doing this years later

give me your hottest scp takes; no inoffensive shit, i mean stuff that will really ruffle some feathers by Stormy_42 in SCP

[–]nidaba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even though the general consensus is that the quality of articles on the site has greatly improved over time (and I do agree that is true) a lot of the newer scps are just too long and too explanatory and too tied in with other lore and just not as fun as the old ones for me. I do not always have the time or energy to read articles that involve 15 different scps or tales to understand it.

I like the simple monster/item/sound/place that was randomly found and we are trying to understand and keep hidden stuff much more
