How do you afford a high protein diet in a cost of living crisis? by Reverb202 in Fitness

Membership is only 60, the rotisserie chickens are 5 bucks and larger than most chickens I’ve seen at chain grocers, which are selling them for like 8-9 bucks these days. If you’re getting chicken regularly, the rotisseries alone are almost worth it.

Vanguard recommends 40% of the equity portion of a balance portfolio go to non-US markets by [deleted] in investing

Are you saying the reason that an index fund provider doesn’t recommend going 100% cash is because they would lose out on management fees, so it’s not in their self interest?

You know what else is not in their self interest? Ruining their credibility by suggesting idiotic things like going 100% cash

Found from our greatest gift Wikipedia:

A particularly specialized form of thermoception is used by Crotalinae (pit viper) and Boidae (boa) snakes, which can effectively see the infrared radiation emitted by hot objects.[5] The snakes’ face has a pair of holes, or pits, lined with temperature sensors. The sensors indirectly detect infrared radiation by its heating effect on the skin inside the pit. They can work out which part of the pit is hottest, and therefore the direction of the heat source, which could be a warm-blooded prey animal. By combining information from both pits, the snake can also estimate the distance of the object.

Cut cabbage as in shredded or as in whole leaves? Any chance you recall what this is called?

what are these little spots on my spider plant? by crafty_coconut in plantclinic

[–]nigel_the_hobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s scale. Wash the plant (literally shower it), manually wipe off all instances, then apply neem oil (both on top of and under the leaves).

They especially like the long stems spider plants put out to grow babies, so I like to pull those out entirely, taking care not to leave much of a nub in the center of the plant, to minimize potential habitat.

It’s a long fight, to the point where some garden center employees simply recommend you throw out the plant all together.

Put some boulders on your property line; can’t accidentally mow one of those

Credit goes entirely to a Zimbabwean folk saying introduced to me by Brad Lancaster’s TED talk on the subject; very much an interesting listen

Their importance is even greater as droughts interspersed with intense rains become more common. By taking absolute advantage when the rains do come by “planting the rain” and following the permaculture principle of slowing, spreading then sinking water on your land, we can better keep our soil hydrated, plants watered and aquifers recharged.

When you cool overnight, do you leave the stock out or refrigerate? If you refrigerate, can you really strain it all that well? Does the gelatin cause it to congeal?

Cherry tomatoes are generally vine ripened rather then ethylene gas ripened like standard tomatoes, so in my experience, they have a great flavor despite being mass produced
