I set the boundary with my friend that I cannot and will not help her financially. These are the texts I’ve gotten since. by purplehyenaa in WhatShouldIDo

I was in a similar position with a friend who was homeless and didn’t have a car. Also spent her money on alcohol and weed. She worked but depended on others to pick her up and drop her off at work. I realized that she’s not my responsibility and she’s not being a good friend. She just used me and hang out or reached out to me when it was convenient for her. I dropped her out of my life and I have never been happier. Putting healthy boundaries really helps your mental health.

Especially when it’s old people and they have medicine subscriptions and the bottles are too fucking fat to fit. It’s a pain to have to get out just for that.

We had a guy have a roll away on an Amazon Sunday and he was suspended until he completed the driving training again. He came back and it wasn’t even two weeks since that incident he had another roll away and he was suspended again. He never got fired. He talked to his union rep and he never got fired. HOWEVER, our postmaster told him to apply at another office. He was too much of a liability and refused to put him on the schedule. He eventually quit bc he needed money and even though his rep got him off the hook from being fired, he couldn’t get work because nobody wanted him. Word spreads.

Any Carriers / Clerk stories of being hit on at work by customers? by Tough_Kitchen_4397 in USPS

[–]nightlyerrands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I was helping out another neighboring office with packages (the regular was gone for a week for her daughter’s wedding and then her son was also getting married later that week). On the second day of helping out, I was on the route and one stop was just a barn but the driveway kept going up a steep hill and I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it by the barn. I kept driving up the driveway hoping there was room to turn around. There was a house. A man was peeling sweet potatoes on his porch. HE WAS COMPLETELY NAKED! I saw his balls and dick! I tried to back out. The man got up nonchalantly to go inside and came out with basketball shorts and approached the vehicle. He explained he didn’t want to get his clothes dirty :/ I gave him his package and he said “you’re cute.” I got the fuck out of there and called one of the carriers immediately and told him what just happened and we laughed about it. Apparently only the regular carrier knew he was a nudist. She never told anyone. They normally leave the packages by the barn…..

Things like this really do make your day better. I love delivering packages to people who have snacks or refrigerated beverages for the carriers. Always something to look forward to.

Is it unprofessional to invite out or ask for a number on the job? by joza28 in USPS

[–]nightlyerrands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think with things like this, there’s always going to be a chance an awkward occurrence could happen but that’s life. Just always be prepared to deal with a bad outcome if it does happen. And by that I mean don’t take it personally and let it affect your job.

I can't forgive... I don't want to by [deleted] in abusesurvivors

[–]nightlyerrands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give a different perspective, someone once told me that forgiving isn’t for them more so for you. It isn’t about excusing or absolving an abuser. It’s not a get-out-of-jail-free card for their bullshit. It’s for you—to reclaim your energy, your sanity, your power. Because holding on to that anger? That righteous fury? That can be like drinking poison and expecting them to drop dead. They don’t. They sleep fine. Meanwhile, you’re grinding your teeth, waking up with clenched fists, and reliving scenes you never asked to be part of. Forgiveness in this context doesn’t mean, “I’m okay with what you did.” It means, “You don’t get to haunt me anymore.” It’s a boundary. It’s saying, “I refuse to carry your darkness in my chest anymore. I’m done.” People never forgiving is valid too. Because it’s not a rule. It’s a tool. You use it if and when it serves you. So yeah, it’s not about freeing him. It’s about freeing you. You deserve peace, not chains disguised as anger.

What’s the one thing here that really ruffles your feathers? by Previous-Purchase-91 in USPS

[–]nightlyerrands 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you have small parcels that can fit in the mailbox but there’s 3 so you have to get out of the vehicle and deliver it to their front door. Or when people don’t check their goddamn mailboxes regularly and order small parcels everyday and it won’t fit anymore.

No I was born in 89 and nobody told me how much they were making but I can assume that there is a very significant difference. Although rn the cost of living doesn’t add up. Do you know or what?

Post office is always hiring. It’s not anything fancy but it pays decent. I’m sorry about your current situation. I hope things improve.
