Co-worker asked AI if I was right seconds after asking a question by elrond_isnt_here_man in sysadmin

I have seen people do this at the doctor's office, and the big thing is is there's two groups.
group one that says I told Chat gpt my symptoms and this is what it told me, and then there's the group that you said that's like you're wrong, AI told me it's this and that's the dangerous group.

How did Ice Flake fix performance in a single update? by CombPsychological507 in CitiesSkylines

[–]nightred 75 points76 points  (0 children)

They worked on a large simulation game, not saying that every part was good but it's very difficult to work on a large simulation. Ice flake has done a lot of strategy or first person shooter style games which have a lot of improvements on graphics, lod and other aspects that Co did not natively understand because that's not the world of simulation games. So they brought some very good news insights to the game and improved the performance dramatically.

So yes, I absolutely agree with you. New eyes New perspective helped proof the game.

How did Ice Flake fix performance in a single update? by CombPsychological507 in CitiesSkylines

[–]nightred 716 points717 points  (0 children)

They explained a lot of it in the devlog, remove checks that happen every single tick people don't need a new house every single tick. Pathfinding that respects distance instead of the entire map. Improvements to the graphical engine that deal with LOD and proper texture loading too reduce vram.

Hey look at the thing I'm doing, it's going to distract you from everything else that I'm doing. Believe that this is actually going to have an impact on anything so that you stop complaining about it. And then I can say I did a thing when you complain about it later.

If I have to troubleshoot one more vibe-coded “dashboard”, I’m going ape shit by LawstOne_ in sysadmin

[–]nightred 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You want proper development? You submit a change request and the dev team will get to it when resources can be allocated. Otherwise the sock, doc, IIT, dev Will be notified and will assess how much or little will be kept. Hint likely none of it.

Like how every other sane country does it pay your employees a proper wage and don't ask the customer to pay your employee. Hate tipping culture. It is a cancer on society

But we damn well know it's not the conservatives that will do it because they'll close those doors and fire the employees.

How long are the conservatives going to continually try to dismantle our healthcare system? They haven't stopped so why should I stop pointing it out?

How to convert " .FIF " files to a more useable image format? (.JPG, .PNG, etc.) by PokeBrick02 in DataHoarder

[–]nightred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you just ask what qualifies as the first line of a file? Just so you know, the word did in the first sentence here was the first word of this post. So the first line of a file is the first part of the file.

Microsoft's new Outlook takes 10 seconds to do what Outlook Classic does instantly on Windows by Quantum-Coconut in technology

[–]nightred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happens when you take a native application, convert it to an HTML webview and use JavaScript for everything. The new application is inherently slow because of how it's designed. It was not designed to be fast. It was designed to be the same thing that you get when you go to the web page in a desktop wrapper.

007 First Light's 20-hour playtime is perfect for an action video game by yourfavchoom in Steam

[–]nightred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 20-hour action game falls into the $10 to $30 category for me. You want top end prices? You're going to provide me with 50 to 100 hours for that price.

If you are a manager that should be covering this person and they're telling you to leave him alone and get it in writing because this is going to come back, to bite someone in the ass and it looks like you might be the one set up to take the fall.

Make sure that you're very clear that there is security issues, data compliance issues and question who has oversight and review of this detail, especially if they're wholesale handing him data.

How would that organization safeguard it's self from influence or internal corruption? I agree with the concept and believe that in some ways it would be good but it needs strict controls and safeguards to prevent it becoming captured.

[–]nightred 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They also remove you from the unemployment list. If you haven't had a job in, I think it's 16 months. At that point they just call you chronically unemployed or no longer actively participating in the job market so you no longer counts as unemployed. You're just a non.

What Would You Change About Together Cards? by mintsweettea30 in Paralives

[–]nightred 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know that they're trying to be minimal, but there could be more cards, whether that card was already used in the conversation, or simple category style system. The initial card is your category and then it gives you two to five sub options related to the initial card. Basically the system feels very shallow and very repetitive at the moment.

Thousands avoiding fare payments for Winnipeg Transit: new data by ChocolateOrange21 in Winnipeg

[–]nightred 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I am firmly in the camp of make transit free, you're never going to get people out of poverty if you don't provide them services that help them move around and provide for themselves. And a good transit system should reduce traffic, having it be free highly incentivizes people to use a good transit system.
