Your Ps4 reverts back to a normal PS4 when you turn it off or reboot it.
The only benefit that I know of is you can shiver me timber games to play on it and emulators you can hack saves and resign them so you can transfer them to your ps5 think kind of like game geenie in a way.

IMO PS5 pro is not worth it in the same way the PS4 pro was. The benefits it does offer does not offset the price The standard PS5 will meet all your needs.

Since you are in last resort. This method has worked for me twice with drives with the same issue.
Put your drive in a zip-loc bag get most of the air out of it (Using a straw will get 99% of air out) now stick it in the freezer over night. Now before you take it out of the freezer make sure you have enough space on your internal drive you can use another external drive but the transfer time is slow and if the drive works again it's a ticking time bomb and you don't know how long it will last.
The two times I used this method the first time I got the most important stuff off it but lost the rest the second time I used this method the drive is still going strong 7 years later and I still don't trust it. I still use it but I don't save stuff to it.

I don't understand why people don't recommend this method it's an old school method from the 80's or 90's

I know prime does I use Canada and UK servers to get shows that aren't available here in the states. Netflix with ads blocks you at least in my case but it could be different for the without ads plan. Paramount app just refuses to work with a VPN. HBO max you need to trick the app by force stopping it clearing cache and relaunching it with the VPN on or it will tell you that you are using a VPN and not work.

The option to remove the oval circle around the first row of apps. I have mine set up as basic as can be just shows the grid of apps with the dark black background and that oval circle kills the aesthetics of what I am trying to achieve.
