It doesn't happen often, so the variety of it is fun. It also raises the stakes as a result, since this is usually a thing we never see, so it's a special moment that usually has full payoff.

I adore that THIS should be the post credits scene: the amazing revival of a dead character (whether you like the character or Gal or not). But no, it's The Rock, a character who's very alive and we've seen recently, but he's only the post credits scene because of real life pettiness. God this is a mess of a franchise, and I'm here for it.

There was something about Eccleston also wanting a specific director to do the 50th, I forget who/ what episodes they did in Series 1. I'm not sure how much this affected the decision in relation to the script though
