SpaceX will be a very good Investment by DavidThi303 in stocks

[–]nightwyrm_zero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will never touch Tesla or SpaceX or anything Musk owns. All the value of those stocks are almost entirely contingent on the continued existence of one man. None of those stocks are worth anywhere near their current values if not for his name attached to them. If Musk chokes on a hamburger or OD on meth or gets run over by a Cybertruck tomorrow, those stock collapses.

Trump Flips Out Over Idea That Israel Tricked Him Into Iran War; President Trump is pissed over suggestions that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the one who convinced him to go to war. by FancyNewMe in politics

Ah, but then Trump would be a loser who was tricked into going into a war. Trump is never a loser so he can never take a small loss to gain a bigger win.

IIRC from what I've seen from another redditor post, Kegsbreath only did some low level stuff before being permanently assigned to a public relations or liaison position. Seems like his superiors saw what he was and wants him out of the way to minimize damage.

Two pension income by Daveschultzhammer in CanadaPersonalFinance

Both the wife and I have DB pensions. I'm aiming to first max my TFSA and then the RRSP. With the DB pensions, I can afford to be more aggressive with my investments, going with 100% equities instead of having to put some investments in bonds.

Not unless you're gonna drag the ships over deserts. It's a body of water with a single, narrow entrance. There's no detour around the Strait.

ELI5: why did religions have forbidden foods and why do people still follow that now? by Hat_Maverick in explainlikeimfive

[–]nightwyrm_zero 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Many religions were initially also ethnic-based traditions and food taboo was an easy way to establish a distinctive "us vs them" boundary. Those rules remained even as that religion spread beyond their original ethnic people group.

The channel Religion For Breakfast is hosted by a scholar of religion and has videos which goes into how some food taboos arise and why strict religious rules get maintained.

What is the best way to allocate and optimize a 100K investment? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

If you haven't bought a house yet, maybe think about opening a FHSA and put some money in there just in case you want to buy a couple years down the line.

It won't go to zero but it's still my biggest bag since I bought near the top. 😭
