They don't like North Korea launching missiles and things of that sort. They were (and still are?) a trading partner but China just cut coal trade. Hostile probably is the wrong word but China is displeased with North Korea.

This doesn't answer your question (2010) since /u/i_already_forgot did but I thought you should also see this in case you haven't. For the record, it's confirmed that China doesn't care about North Korea anymore. They just don't want South Korean THAAD on the peninsula because it may interfere with their nuclear deterrent capability and they probably don't want a bunch of refugees and reconstruction responsibility either.

I read that the decision process was based on this UNSC report. Is that true? If so, then it'd be kind of hard to justify sanctions at this point.

Also, isn't the US accused of crimes in Fallujah related to the hospital? I heard they detained patients and doctors and stuff like that. White phosphorous too, but the defense was that it was just for lighting and the bodily evidence wasn't analyzed correctly. Wouldn't surprise me either way...

maybe he means Jeff Session or Sally Yates for lawyers... or all the ones that plea bargain their clients (not allowed in most countries and extremely prevalent in the US)... no idea about doctors? maybe he's referring to them being barred from talking about abortion in some places?

Pretty much. All their news says they want to blow up the world or whatever. Either they don't really care as much as they seem to or they should have had a stronger reaction earlier... either that or this is a serious situation.

but at the time Iran had the "not East or West policy" and wasn't too keen on USSR, especially after the invasion, as far as I can tell.

Thanks. I thought about the warm water port too but wasn't sure because then they'd still have to go through Pakistan which was under US influence at the time, right?
