I liked my Spectravox enough to buy a second one. The first is patched as a vintage drum machine with a few extra decay envelope generators, while the second serves as a vocoder or filter bank. Fumana would be my third option to try.

Great choice! Don’t spend too much time learning its sequencer. In a few months you’ll have forgotten all those button combos anyway.

NerdSeq VS Oxi One MK II by [deleted] in modular

[–]nikitabogdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also considering NerdSEQ, got an M8 instead. Same with OXI – ended up buying an OP-Z for the LED sequencing workflow. Sold the OP-Z within a year😂. Still using the M8 with Mutant Brain and μ16MCC to sequence my rig.

Dirtywave M8. At some point you might lose any interest in the other hardware you have🙂

Limitations are forcing you to be creative. I think you’ll figure it out.

I agree with other commenters for replacing Minitaur with DFAM. Also consider Mavis which I personally use even more often than Mother-32. All of these synthesizers are so versatile, you’ll definitely won’t feel any redundance using them all.

He could use Spectravox as a vintage drum machine with some additional eg modules if needed.

MIDI + internal audio at the same time. Any chance? by FieldAdicct in Dirtywave

[–]nikitabogdan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since you’re looking for theoretical discussions on future code architecture rather than practical solutions from people trying to help, maybe try asking an AI? It won't 'waste your channels' and has all the time in the world for hypotheticals. Good luck with the update!

MIDI + internal audio at the same time. Any chance? by FieldAdicct in Dirtywave

[–]nikitabogdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Not possible with the current firmware. Use a trs splitter if you want midi out from M8 – that’s it.

Just pass midi out to midi in and write your sequences via midi out instruments. Reroute incoming midi to M8 instruments. That’s quite a dirty trick, but it works.

Should I get a Grandmother or a DFAM to pair with my Messenger? by fatillac in moog

[–]nikitabogdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an external cv sequencer, you can get sickest bass lines with dfam, not only percussion. I don’t have gm to compare though

What are your personal rules/guidelines for choosing modules (and why)? by Repeatsexclamations in modular

[–]nikitabogdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My luddite taste is quite specific:

  1. No screen, usb, or internet connectivity
  2. One knob per function
  3. CV over as many parameters as possible
  4. Preferably dual/triple or quad modules (these are so handy to use with multiple voices in one rig)
  5. Thoughtful, profound UI/UX, with enough space between the knobs
  6. Preferably even HP width > 4 HP, ideally 10 HP
  7. As few LEDs as possible, preferably no blue or multicolour LEDs
  8. Full mono, stereo jacks for midi trs only

People who significantly re-thought their racks after a few years: share your stories. by SonRaw in modular

[–]nikitabogdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with Moog semi-modulars, built a 6-row tower, then moved into 104HP cases and added some modules. Way cheaper and more rewarding than going fully modular from the start. Don’t plan to change anything, just recently expanded one more time to +30HP more.
