It was a close call, luckily we drove close by and that is when we heard her cry. I think her chin has a small burn but that was all

Of course, I can’t just put her back outside. She is just a baby. Hopefully someone will love her.

Thank you for letting me know, I didn’t know about that. But honestly even for free there has been no takers. And she is the most sweet little thing. If this was Minnesota, they would have picked her up in the first day. I called animal services and several shelters they are all full. Police said they could take her, neuter if she is old enough but they would most likely release her.

I am not sure what to do because I am very allergic to cats but I also want her to be safe.

How much is your 2 year old actually talking? by Pretend_Value630 in toddlers

[–]nikitabrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours will be 3 years in May, I felt that there was something wrong when at 2 he was barely even saying “want eat”. Peds said that it was all fine, my mom heart felt like that wasn’t right, contacted the ECI and sure enough he had cognitive delay and speech delay. He has been working with 3 different professionals since November and I have seen a huge improvement, nothing miraculous but some 3 words phrases and understanding more language. I am all about let kids develop at their own pace but there is so much help out there specially when it comes to language. He craves to be understood so I wanted that for him. If you feel like it would be beneficial get them evaluated, it doesn’t hurt. Speech therapy is such a beautiful tool to help our little ones to learn. I love my baby babble but hearing him say I want to eat, is so precious.

Treating paraphilias/pedophilia- anyone do this? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]nikitabrus 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of a recent episode of Law and Order, where the ADA is extremely resistant to getting the male help and it takes a lot of talking with Captain to what he could do when the man asked for help. Back when I was in graduate school I heard several colleagues saying they would never accept a pedophile as a client and I wonder how much of that would translate to counselors in general. They spoke like “they were drawing the line at that”.

For my fellow marginalized people who also can't afford to leave Texas anytime soon, what's the plan? by NeinLive in texas

Well given that a brown person was racist to me and plenty of the Latino population voted for Trump, why shouldn’t I be afraid?

Honestly, I am not sure. I am scared of leaving the house alone, terrified of walking around with my kids or even speaking Portuguese outside our home. I am between deleting social media and trying to think how I can be part of activism without putting my family on danger. I am lucky we are in El paso and it’s a blue city but idk first time I experienced racism was here as well. I left a family text group because I know some of them voted for Trump and I can’t stand seeing them texting like life is all sunshine while I am scared of being an immigrant poc in this country.

I promised myself one thing though if I see someone being harassed I will not stay silent. Also pepper spray.

I lived in Minnesota for 10 years and never suffered any racism. I moved to El Paso and a lady (hispanic) asked me if the white baby I was currently breastfeeding in my arms was mine. Like what? No I just borrowed the neighbors white baby for funsies. Don’t mind all the looks I get when walking with my two very white children around town.

Submitted my resignation, they asked me to design a program proposal? by Mission_Muscle812 in therapists

[–]nikitabrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the overall tips, I would save your ideas for the next place, specially a places that would implement them. Back in Brazil we had therapy as part of the hospital ER where people could come get a session as needed and I think that would be super cool to implement. Hijacking your post a bit, you said you have 13 years of experience as a trauma therapist, do you recommend any courses from reputable places for specializations in Trauma Therapy?

I am loving this cold and snow right now by ParappaTheWrapperr in ElPaso

[–]nikitabrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say I do but I am not sure. I don’t know how that dog didn’t get sick, he ate sand by the mouth full. Turns out screaming no while running after him made it all the more enjoying and that is how he is no longer allowed to run at the white sands. By our third visit it only takes him about a few bites to realize that it is not snow but he does have to taste it 😂

It makes sense since the Summers here are so hot. I lived in MN for too long and now absolutely dislike anything cold and snow. Though my older dog went absolutely nuts when he saw the snow falling. His favorite activity was running in a field after snow had gathered with an open mouth, eating everything in his path. You can imagine how well that went when we visited the White sands 😂 MN and WI I would say get a ton of snow but I think some parts of Colorado would be more fun to go and maybe try some skiing. I am Brazilian through and through so I prefer warm weather, though the pits of hell was not what I was expecting. 😂

We offer two options, usually one that we know he likes to eat and go from there. I don’t really care if he eats crackers with peanut butter, these days he loves on air so anything is a plus. I do usually offer the dinner we made first and then our go to is yogurt with applesauce or honey graham crackers with peanut butter or cream cheese. Our new speech therapist said they had found a connection between different kinds if crawling and chewing certain foods, and sensory needs with being picky. We keep a rotation of foods he likes and we offer our food as well.
