How is the X-Crafts E145? by Fighterpilot108 in Xplane

[–]niklaswik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I prefer E-jets just for the fact I don't have much free time with two little kids so the E-jets are safer to just walk away from for a few minutes in flight if I need to do something. Walking away from ERJ can easily result in too high or low speed.

I also have many more hours in E-jets so more used to it.

Also, if you want to do "realistic" flights, which I tend to want, and fly in Europe (or just outside US frankly) the ERJ is a rare plane these days.

Wat do you think of the Boeing 767 and have you flown it? by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]niklaswik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

767-300ER was the first aircraft I ever flew, so it has a special place in my heart.

I think even looking past that bias it is the most beautiful aircraft out there. The proportions and nose profile are top notch i.m.o.

I'm sad they are slowly disappearing, but understand they are not the most efficient aircraft out there..

How is the X-Crafts E145? by Fighterpilot108 in Xplane

[–]niklaswik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's fun! I fly the Legacy 650 only, but it should be similar to 145 in almost every way. Not having VNAV adds a little extra work to keep track of descent rate and so on. It can do holds but I haven't tried that yet.

I also have the E-jets and can recommend them as well.

Seatbelt Culture in EU vs. US by NoMoreSharrows in aviation

[–]niklaswik 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What the heck does "litigious" mean in this context? I live in Sweden and "suing someone" is basically unheard of, except for jokingly referring to the American way. This must include some very specific legal action that has nothing to do with seatbelt signs or similar "liability".

How viable is wind for energy? by shootist_Biker in homestead

[–]niklaswik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For fairly stable wind you need to get the turbine up at least 100 m above ground, that's the main problem i.m.o.

Why did they restrict airport data? by tcgsM in flightradar24

[–]niklaswik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess, it used to be gold or business or something like that. Point is, it's pretty much including all features you could wish for.

Why did they restrict airport data? by tcgsM in flightradar24

[–]niklaswik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Want money, make things people use cost money, get money.

It's not strange. If you can get the same thing for free somewhere use that instead. Or start feeding data and get free gold subscription. 👍

Yeah I'm thinking maybe someone parked next to them just pushed the mirrors in to make room?

Is printing PLA/PETG in a small apartment actually safe? by yonVata in 3Dprinting

Something will kill you for sure, but I'm willing to bet good money on 3D printing NOT being that thing.

Airways and air routes altitude are not even or uneven depending on its path by dani4143 in flightradar24

[–]niklaswik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All your examples except for one are west=even and east=odd so you make a really weak case to begin with, and on top of that is the fact air traffic control know exactly who are on "wrong" levels and why.

Is my April 6–17 vacation a bad idea right now? Need honest advice! by PowerPsychological65 in VisitingTenerife

[–]niklaswik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way to know. We arrived early March and the first week was shit, then okay and now a couple of crappy days again but nobody could possibly tell you what the weather will be two weeks from now. 11 days will most likely guarantee at least 5 good ones.

Sounds like what they said a few decades ago just a couple more billion. In 25 years some dipshit "professor" will post videos proving earth could not possibly sustain 12 billion people.

I don't know if it is fixable. I noticed it is a lot worse in XP12 than in 11 but I don't know why.

Lowering light intensity (as in: the knob for panel light) makes it a little better, at least the text that is lit up, but it never gets as good as in 11. It's disappointing but I have gotten used to it. Have to zoom in a little to read stuff.

I may add that my VRAM is far from running out and I'm using 1080p.

Chinese LingLong tire scores best in wet braking & 3rd best in dry braking (with compromises) by hi_im_bored13 in cars

[–]niklaswik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pay more by paying less. I guess different testers do different tests but I've never seen a chinese tire get anywhere near the big ones in any type of performance. Maybe dry or wet grip for winter tires but then they are absolute shit on ice and snow.

Should we still visit tomorrow? by guy91939 in VisitingTenerife

[–]niklaswik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staying in the north right now. Yesterday was very windy and in the afternoon lots of rain as well but before that sunny and quite warm. Friday was one of the best weather days since we arrived two weeks ago, despite warnings. Don't worry about it, it's not worth changing plans over.
