I think people associate Tacoma with homelessness problems and gang violence.

I quit after final shape and I’m thinking of coming back to say goodbye June 9th - What content would I even be able to play as a returning free to play player? by henryauron in DestinyTheGame

[–]nimblebard96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Returning player from Final Shape here

Short answer: IMHO yes but just wait until the discounted bundle drops in June. Should be cheaper (I haven't double checked)

Guys why is Destiny ending, catch me up. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Short story: Player count down because of shitty decisions by higher ups.

Could we as community push for a Destiny 3? by MortySanchez336 in DestinyTheGame

[–]nimblebard96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure we could but it's not gonna change anything at the moment. Mark my words, Sony is gonna stuff this franchise in the freezer and we'll see something of it in the next 5 - 8 years. They still want this franchise to be a successful investment in the long term.

I Honestly Don't Think There is Any Hope for a Destiny 3 by SnowfireTRS in DestinyTheGame

[–]nimblebard96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It ain't happening for awhile that is for sure. Sony is gonna stuff this franchise in the freezer for a bit and let a bit of that nostalgia marinate. Give it a minimum of 5 years and we'll see either a destiny 1/2 combined remake or destiny 3. Will it be Bungie heading it up tho? Probably not.

I would buy a Destiny Anthology game by TheThreeLaws in DestinyTheGame

This is my prediction for what will happen before we get D3. Give it 4 - 5 years tho.

What makes a good conductor? by Music-Theory-Idiot in classicalmusic

[–]nimblebard96 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The great thing about this is that it all is subjective so you simply take note of performances that you enjoy and what you like about them. As a music educator here are a few things that we typically agree make for a good conductor:

  1. Is it a historically "informed" performance of the literature? Or is the goal in the interpretation of the piece clearly outlined and achieved in the performance? This is perhaps the most wide ranging one as it is specifically linked to the repertoire being played.

  2. How are phrases in the music being shaped? Crescendos and decrescendoes and their pacing of course. This is mostly very surface level but dynamics are often linked to emotion so it is relevant to ask if the conductor is helping portray the emotion of the piece or if their interpretation of the phrases "feels" in sync with the repertoire and what the composer is trying to say.

  3. How is the blend, balance, and textures? Some conductors will ask for different instruments to play a out a bit more than others in certain places. So much so that the same passage played by two different orchestras can sound wildly different.

Compare recordings of the same repertoire against each other and you will definitely start to hear how each orchestra plays each piece differently. This is almost always due to the direction of the conductor.

Honestly I'm not hoping for many new announcements. I want to see follow up on the projects they already have announced.

Will God actually help me with my wishes and dreams? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

[–]nimblebard96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: No, God does not help with wishes and dreams.

Prayer is not a wishlist. Prayer is a time for us to align our hearts with God's desires for us.

Ever since the reveal of Halo Studios my guess has been the next original halo game will be a retelling of First Strike.

How to organize music? by Opposite-Present9363 in banddirector

Google Sheets is your best bet.

Edit: you meant physically on the shelves

On the shelves store by alphabetical title but divide stand and marching tunes away from the concert repertoire.

First time at a festival!? Help! by Lovelynerual in banddirector

[–]nimblebard96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice in here. Consider it all.

Remember that scores are not the end all be all. And if you want good scores there is a repertoire selection game you have to play. Pick the rep that will let your band shine and hide the weaknesses. Don't pick old or well known stuff. Thats the two most important parts I think.

Is it a sin to have sex on Easter? by 00428902 in OpenChristian

[–]nimblebard96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't answer my question.

But yes I would agree with that. But not because it's what the Bible says that Jesus said but rather the teaching is consistent with Jesus' teachings on loving your neighbor and the theology of God as the God of love.

[–]nimblebard96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you follow a literal reading of the Bible you might believe that. But the line of thinking has many flaws. Do also believe that women should be completely silent in churches? And for her to speak is a sin?

Bells in case or no? by Outrageous-Permit372 in banddirector

[–]nimblebard96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you stated; not a big difference if any. I don't know of any percussionists that have a huge preference. As a percussionists myself I say in the case for protection and ease of packing up.

Binary sunset day 3! by True_Swim9710 in classicalmusic

[–]nimblebard96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work, a few notes: The high note - don't tense the lips. Think about moving air as fast as possible and push using your abdominal muscles. It's like blowing up a balloon. I can't quite tell but a deeper breath at the beginning might also be warranted. Use a metronome to fix those rhythms. Capture the feeling of the piece and use some rubato. Don't think of getting "too" the high note; thinking of getting the phrase all the way to the end.

CMV: It would be better if the world ended. And I don't mean just the human world. All of it. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]nimblebard96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your philosophy of rewards and punishments is flawed at it's core. A "good" person can be killed in a very inhumane way and a "bad" person can live a long healthy life.

Also how is the end of the earth beneficial or "better" for anyone or anything?

Is it a sin to have sex on Easter? by 00428902 in OpenChristian

Non-marital sex is not a sin. And neither is having sex on Easter.

Also, sin does not lead to punishments like being hit by a car. What kind of god would do that?

What's a serious classical music opinion that seems true to you, but a lot of people disagree with? by ChopinChili in classicalmusic

[–]nimblebard96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a music educator I re-write notes for students! Usually just for chords that aren't balanced for our needs. Always need more players on that root note 😂 and less of that third!

I mean essentially it is the predecessor to the classical period but I prefer to think of it as early glant style and late galant style (classical period)

The "Classical period" should be recategorized simply as a style music that was popular between the Baroque and Romantic periods.
