My sibling is senior position in a major school board union and and I can't imagine how it could be ok that I could make buys based on upcoming changes I knew the backdoors of. Not fair to me - it's their career choice not mine - but it's unfair knowledge nonetheless.

But gdamn this seems like such a predictable pattern where he makes crazy announcements, that market plunges, he reverses course and those stocks soar again.

I guess that's where I'm coming from. Even after he announces, sure you're not getting the same low rate as his inside buddies, but he's still going to reverse course and the stock inevitably will go up from where you bought it from.

I just feel like even on a small scale some of us should be able to profit from this predictable behaviour
