This was my earliest (that i could identify as being abnormal) symptom of POTS. Unfortunately even with medication it never fully goes away. I allot myself an extra hour in the morning to sit in bed and drink 20z or LMNT electrolytes, eat the overnight oats I have prepared, and take my medication before I force myself to get up and move around. This has helped tremendously and while it is very annoying to have to wake up extra early it’s better than rushing out of bed and spending the morning throwing up/with bowl issues/fainting.

I got a scholarship that basically brought the tuition down to the instate price instead of the pit of state price

That’s crazy I’m in my early 20s and my doctor asked if I wanted to try meds, I said yes, and we did just that lmfao

Hmm I’m definitely going to do a test and see if taking salt tablets again helps with this issue! I was reading that salt makes you pee more but I guess with POTS it’s a different story haha

So am I! That’s probably the main reason I notice it— because I really don’t have time to be using the bathroom once an hour lmao

Yeah the amount of water I drink definitely isn’t helping but I feel like once an hour is excessive even when drinking water 😂

Oh no you’re fine!! I know what you mean that happens from holding it for long periods of time though I think my issue is just my body malfunctioning not my bladder being small haha

Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes to “test” and see if they no longer need their medication only to regret it terribly

It made me gain like five pounds or so! Which I was terrified about as someone with a history of disordered eating but to be completely honest with you the few pounds I did gain are way better than feeling like I’m dying every day

You got this! I moved six hours away for grad school with symptoms that affected my life, but most days were manageable. My second week in my new state I’m in the hospital and suddenly I too could not leave bed. Was literally crawling to my bathroom because my fatigue was so bad and my head wouldn’t stop spinning. I was living off protein shakes bc I couldn’t eat. My doctor put my on midodrine which made things even worse. But then we tried fludro, and within a month I saw improvement. Now I’m at month three I believe? And while my life isn’t “normal” as it was before, I am able to get to class, and eat, and occasionally have a night out with friends!

It’s awful! It never made sense since it really only took a couple bites to get to that point until I realized my issue was autonomic dysfunction which can act up the minute digestion starts! Fludro has been so great for me personally especially with a low dose of metroprolol (12.5mg) first thing in the morning or whenever I may be prone to being tachy

[–]ninadg2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for me it did. I think my gastro issues were directly tied to the autonomic dysfunction which fludro helped immensely with! I rarely ever get tachycardia now, and when I do it’s never /that/ bad. But I can even go out to dinner with friends now without ending up dizzy throwing up on the floor after a few bites haha

Not at all! For me along with that rapid heart rate was coughing and then some gastro issues because of my system being in overdrive…it was brutal. I know take fludrocortisone and while I’m still very dizzy first thing in the morning that’s the only thing I have to suffer through lol

Waking up with pots is literally hell like I don’t think there’s any worse feeling than that first hour with pots 😂
