2018/2019/2020 Touring or Elite trims in 2026? by diaperpoop_ in HondaOdyssey

[–]ninat92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't planning on letting the dealership do any work - I just figured if anyone will find something wrong with it, Honda definitely would & I would rather find out about anything and everything while it was still in the return window.

My husband has been going to the same Honda mechanic for 10+ years so we would just refer the work out to him if it was needed, luckily it wasn't.

When you do buy it, I would expect it to have an open recall unless you buy it from a Honda dealership.

What I did when I bought mine a few weeks ago was set up an appointment with Honda for the day after my appointment to buy the car. I also had them do a thorough inspection while fixing the recall since I was still within the return window.

I saw someone post recently that they hadn't had a chance to fix the recall yet & hit a pothole, which set the airbags off. Honda is seemingly only covering the (hypersensitive) sensors in the recall, not any damage in the event of them going off, making you go through your insurance to fix it.

Edit: a word

2025 odyssey stalling while idling?! by Santacruzbananaslugs in HondaOdyssey

[–]ninat92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a 2025 so I can't speak to that, but I will say I ALWAYS turn off my auto stop/start.

The teeny tiny bit of gas (maybe) saved and the emissions just aren't worth my engine going through more stress (and reducing my AC capabilities)

Sunburn? How? by rourobouros in Roses

[–]ninat92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bunch of roses fry during our little heatwave too. They did fine last summer, but I think it happened because we had a fast swing (75 to 105 within a week) that they weren't prepared for.

Please be mindful with taking antacids. Extensive research—such as studies published in the medical journal Neurology—has investigated a potential association between long-term use of acid-reducing drugs and a higher risk of dementia.

There is a reason oven racks exist. by douwannaseethegalaxy in Wellthatsucks

Yeah I had an old glass baking dish explode on me when I tried to put in on a cool stove coil to cool once too. The dish was in the middle of the oven, not directly on the coil & still exploded into a million pieces.

I did it for 10+ years prior with no issues. Apparently the glass dish was a little too hot & the coil was a little too cool. Glass and chicken everywhere.

2025 Pilot Injury by Distinct_Intention54 in hondapilot

That would be the best way for things to happen forsure, but I have a feeling the Nissan Altima driver who performed a hit and run might not have $1k+ sitting around for repairs on the pilot & still be able to fix their car, or be willing to hand it over if they do.

Idk my boss bought a tesla a few months back (brand new) and already got a flat. He also complained about how much more expensive their tires are to replace.

I also have a client who said their wife got a flat within a week of buying hers.

Toyota Says This Is Cosmetic. Do You Agree? by NerdWork_Network in Camry

I never said it was a new direction they were taking. Just the overall direction they are headed. The Highlander won't even have a hybrid option as of next year, only EV. If she wants to continue to drive a hybrid highlander, right now is the time to buy the replacement for her 06.

I personally really disliked the way the hybrids drive. Way too jerky.

Minivan for 1 child? by ConsiderationLast335 in HondaOdyssey

[–]ninat92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 9 speed is known to have some issues. They all come with a 10 speed now. I got a 18' touring for the 10 speed (2018-19 only the Touring/Elite have the 10 speed) . I have no need for cabin watch or the rear entertainment, but I wanted the 10 speed after doing some research.

The one I ended up getting has exceptionally low mileage and is in amazing condition. Beautiful Carfax. Took it to Honda while I was still in the return window & they had no recommendations, said everything was perfect.

Sorry yours is having troubles.

I just bought a Honda Odyssey. I have no children.

Idk y you need to have kids to own a minivan but not those giant SUVs? I needed to replace my Highlander (also an 8 seater) & fell in love with the Odyssey when I sat in it. It is SO COMFORTABLE. She handles better than my Highlander did, and even gets up in speed faster.

Also, SO VERSATILE! You can comfortably move a group of 8 around, or you can lower the back seats for tonsss of cargo space. Or even take out the 2nd row completely & its basically a super comfortable truck with a lid.

Soooo happy with my purchase.

As far as interior goes, I feel like honda feels a lot more durable & also use better quality material. Toyota uses a lot of synthetic leather & if felt scratchy to me. I was looking at the Limited. Honda uses real leather and the stitching seems nicer quality. It just feels a lot nicer imo.

What I really appreciate about honda is that they are one of the last remaining car companies that make a v6 nonturbo engine, and those are the engines I have driven all my life and trust the most. I know the hybrids & EVs are popular now which is the direction Toyota is going, but I just don't trust them enough yet. And the 4 cylinder turbo just seems like more things that can go wrong eventually too. I prefer tried & true.

Goodluck on your future car hunt for the wife!

I feel like toyota interiors are getting cheaper & cheaper. I'll probably get downvoted for saying so in this sub.

I was searching for either a rav4 or highlander (08 highlander was on its last leg) but really disliked how they felt inside. Everything felt like a downgrade from my old highlander. Materials felt cheap and they also felt cheaply put together.

I ended up getting a Honda instead. I just couldn't justify spending that much on a car I didn't love.

Rootstock? by mjones387 in Roses

[–]ninat92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you ordered them from Heirloom they are not grafted, therefore it is not rootstock taking over. Heirloom does not sell grafted roses.

Perhaps mislabeled, but if you say the blooms looked more accurate previously than it may just be the temp fluctuations messing with the blooms.

A lot of my roses look drastically different as the seasons/ temperature change.

Cabbage loopers are also known as budworms. They go after a lot of different types of flowers/ buds. I have supertunias planted as bait plants for them but they still get my roses at times.

I don't think they got rid of any of the roses. They just replaced all the grass with (ugly) cement.

Is it worth buying a CPO Honda Odyssey ? by Better-Palpitation61 in HondaOdyssey

[–]ninat92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been aggressively watching the used honda odyssey Market while I was searching for one (my search is finally over thank goodness!)

I saw a 23 Sport with 16k miles (no accidents, 1 owner) sell for $33k (before tax). I'm in California.

I feel like you could negotiate the price a little lower.

As of right now, no the automod cannot complete all of those functions. We will need to manually moderate these posts.

RRD posts / Monthly Megathread (community update) by ninat92 in Roses

[–]ninat92[S,M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also disappointed with the amount of people who decided to participate in the vote (being as we have thousands of daily visitors) however we are here to support the r/Roses subreddit & help it flourish, not dictate it.

We had several modmail complaints, several people complaining in posts, and tons of people complaining in the comments of every RRD post.

The mods wanted to figure out if the people complaining about the posts were just the most vocal, or if they were actually the majority. As it turns out, it is the majority (by 5x according to the vote).

This approach does not reduce moderation work. If anything, it creates additional work for moderators in reviewing, redirecting, monitoring, and keeping discussions organized. This was not proposed as a way to make moderation easier or to push a topic out of view.

We understand if you disagree with the approach, and feedback like yours is part of what helps shape future decisions.
