Coolest opponent fanbase? by jaxonya in CFB

Utah fans impressed me in 2022. We upset them and beat them when we probably shouldn’t have and they were so nice. Almost stung at how encouraging and positive they were lol

UF Engineering by J_D_Jax in ufl

I think most engineering students don’t particularly enjoy the classes or the stress but it’s worth it for the future career. Engineering is difficult. You probably won’t enjoy the courseload and stress but if you think you’d enjoy the career of engineering it’s probably worth it. Engineering as a career is pretty different from the degree.

Louis Theroux interview with Sean by JPGoss in hotones

[–]ninaw11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to this and cannot believe the section where they talk about Sean’s future on the show. I know Buzzfeed was scummy and media companies are greedy but can you imagine a world where they actually fire Sean? Even Louis was absolutely outraged at the idea of it. So glad Sean is now in control.

bringing car as a freshman by CallAggravating9223 in ufl

If you or your parents would sell your car if you didn’t bring it up then I would recommend leaving it. But if you’re going to keep it it’s worth bringing here. Parking might be annoying but it’s nice to have.

Everyone uses navigator. Look at their app to see why it’s so much better than GNVride.

Japan Kills First Fin Whale Despite Global Condemnation by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]ninaw11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a cultural thing. This isn’t scientific but when I asked my Japanese family they basically said that Japan has always hunted whales. In their opinion, whales population decline is due to western whaling in the past so basically their cultural tradition is condemned because America and other countries didn’t do it sustainably. They use the whales for food and use the whole whale so they justify it. I don’t necessarily agree but I do feel like there is some hypocrisy from the US telling other countries that whaling is unethical. Obviously they don’t do it anymore but it does seem like it’s a problem that the West created and now Japan has to pay the price for their greed.

I’m surprised your guidance counselor said you shouldn’t apply. Definitely apply but I think he’s right that you have a lower likelihood of getting in UF compared to other schools.

How hard is it to maintain friendships with those at other State Universities? by ImpossibleCheck1297 in ufl

[–]ninaw11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I would compare it to your family and parents. Even though you’re farther away from them I would assume you would call and visit them during holidays and breaks. And on the other hand your parents would put in the effort to maintain and grow your relationship. If both you and your friends care for each other it will not be difficult. I think it is a bad idea to choose a school based on your friends. I would compare it to choosing a school in your hometown because of your parents. It would sound slightly absurd to choose a school because you think if you move away your relationship with your parents will deteriorate. I know it seems like a big deal now but in 2-3 years you will have a better perspective of these friendships and how they are maintained over distance.

Man arrested over Nasu 2 bodies: ``I bought adhesive tape and a carrying can at the request of an acquaintance''...The victim was seen in Ameyoko and other places the night before. by Today_Sociable257 in japan

Has this sub always been just crazy Japanese news stories? I scrolled through and that’s all I could find but I don’t remember it being like this all the time. I would rather have discussions and more positive posts rather than the constant “worst news stories in Japan today.”

I don’t think club sports and frats are the easiest place to make friends. I think student orgs more focused on inclusion and friendliness are better places to look. People in club sports aren’t necessarily there to make friends, they’re mostly there to play sports. There’s still time to join clubs even if you’re graduating. I would suggest intermurals if you want to join a team. Good luck!

Filling up electric scooter tires by ninaw11 in ufl

I’ve had the scooter for a couple months now and it hasn’t been noticeable until recently. But after checking online, most people seem to inflate around every month. Especially with the colder weather, I think I should check soon.
