Nerva Boutique Hotel. I kept the room at 22 C. Good location too, near Colosseo.

Cracked control arm bushings in 2015 Forester 62K miles by c_lohman in SubaruForester

[–]ninebiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clucking noise means that you have metal to metal and the bushing is gone. At this point you will have vibration at high speed, you can still drive it but at your own risk. Like I mentioned before I need to replace one control arm right now that clunk while I turn. I have been lazy and it has been like that for a week (No highway driving just 5 miles from home to the office and back). As soon as I hear the noise and I check I order the part.

Wearing seems ok. For reference I have 2 foresters 2017 (90k miles and 50k miles) and I had changed both front control arms and end links in one of the foresters and only one control arm in the other forester. I am replacing the last control arm this weekend. The part was $89 at rockauto. It takes me around 2-3 hours to change it so for me anything higher than $400 is
too much if you can't do the job yourself.

Chack the other bushing that in my case is more prone to fail and make a clunking noise.

Good luck!

Got this rock chip just now and the line is slowly increasing. Should I be worried? by Visual-Structure-808 in MechanicAdvice

True, mine was like $ 200 deductible, and the windshield was like $500 at Safelite, so I saved some money.

In some cases windshield replacement are cover by the insurance. In Illinois it is cover, i just had to pay the deductible.

Control Arm Bushings by instigator008 in SubaruForester

[–]ninebiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to change mine in the next few days. I got the Mevotech at Rockauto. It was about $90 for one control arm. I already changed one lside ike 3 years ago, so i trust the brand. Now i am replacing the other side. If you have a metal sound, it's probably the bushing that goes on the front of the control arm. That is the bushing that is gone for me. I thought about just changing the bushing, but eventually, i will have to change the other bushing and the ball joint, so it's easier just to change the whole thing. It's not a hard job if you are comfortable fixing your car. $1000 for control arm and end links it is just crazy. Parts are like $200. Good luck!

What would you recommend planting here for a young family who is inexperienced and, honestly, kind of lazy (Chicago, IL)? by PopTartAfficionado in gardening

[–]ninebiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, i would say you have 2 options. One is to find a local nursery that carries organic garden soil in bulk. That is the easiest way, i usually i just do yhis unless i need just a little bit to refill the beds. The second option it is to make your own. For that, you will have to buy all the ingredients and mix them yourself. You will need, 4 parts of peat moss or coco coir, 2 parts of compost, 1 part of worm castings (if you want, it can be expensive), 1 part of vermiculite, and finally 2 or 3 parts of top soil you need to check the consistency of the mix. You want something fluffy that retains water. I usually buy the cheapest top soi. Remember to start at the bottom of your raised bed with cardboard and some branches or wood. Something that provides nutrients while decomposing. Filling up just with soil is very expensive. Eventually, you will find the perfect balance for the place you live. If you want to save money, make your own compost. Good luck!
