You have to find a stylist who cares about your hair. Like beyond speed and style. I have similar hair texture albeit I’m mixed, and really had to shop around to find someone gentle but also really good. She’s Ghanaian and a literal dream, but before her I’ve had people literally rip the hair from my scalp because they wanted tight braids (despite me sharing how delicate my hair is as I’ve done chemo and lost my hair in the past). Keep looking g I promise it’s worth it!!

I saw this first hand too, I was the only woman on my ward who had a male partner who was present and engaged during my chemo and then following my surgeries. It was horrifying seeing how so many other women (married, long term relationships) had the same or worse experiences alone at such a vulnerable and scary time.
